Why do people suffer from presbyopia?

Many elderly people will experience blurred vision after reaching a certain age. You can see that many elderly people wear reading glasses when reading newspapers. However, many middle-aged people now suffer from presbyopia symptoms early on, especially young people nowadays. They usually face computers when they work and look at mobile phones when they get home. This is very harmful to the eyes. Let's take a detailed look at why people get presbyopia.

Presbyopia, commonly known as "old eyesight", is a phenomenon caused by aging, hardening of the lens and reduced accommodation ability. As we age, the near point becomes farther and farther away, which means presbyopia becomes more serious. If you used to have emmetropia, you can see clearly at a distance but not at close range. The older you get, the more severe your presbyopia becomes. People with presbyopia can wear a pair of reading glasses when reading books or newspapers.

Myopia can also cause presbyopia

Some people say that myopia will not cause presbyopia, which is incorrect. As age increases, the accommodative power of the lens will become smaller. Anyone can suffer from presbyopia because of myopia. This is the law of nature. The patient's near point is farther than that of normal people. When the near point moves farther, it is initially within the reading range. At this time, the patient only needs to read without wearing myopia glasses. As people age, their near point may exceed their reading range for patients with mild myopia, and they may need to wear reading glasses when reading. For patients with high myopia, their near point may always be within the reading range and they do not need to wear reading glasses. However, they need to take off their glasses when reading, or wear a pair of glasses with a lighter degree of myopia.

Under normal circumstances, presbyopia usually occurs around the age of 50. In recent years, there have been reports that some young people have presbyopia before the age of 40. This phenomenon is called "hypoptosis". There are two main reasons for this situation. First, most of these people have "hyperopia" when they are young, usually around 150 degrees. After the age of 30, a person's vision increases at a rate of positive 10 degrees per year. The eye's ability to adjust and compensate is generally within 150 degrees. If it exceeds this degree, adjustment and compensation will become difficult. Therefore, these people will experience astigmatism before the age of 40, the so-called "early astigmatism"; secondly, it is related to people's excessive use of their eyes, lack of rest and sleep, and excessive mental stress. The early or late onset and severity of presbyopia symptoms are not only related to the original refractive state, but also have a lot to do with the nature of each person's work and study habits.

The "young presbyopic" population is mainly concentrated in the white-collar class. Due to the increasingly fierce social competition, their spirits are in a state of stress all day long and their bodies are in sub-healthy state. These people mostly deal with computers, staring at computer screens for a long time, and coupled with lack of sleep, their eyes do not get enough rest, causing overstrain of the eyes and presbyopia "reports" early.

The above is what I want to introduce to you here today about why people suffer from presbyopia. I hope everyone has understood it in detail. We should pay more attention to protecting our eyes. If we don’t pay attention to it, various eye problems will arise as we get older. I hope the above content will be helpful to you.
