What's going on with the tinnitus lately?

Has anyone recently felt that they always hear some special sounds in their ears, but there is actually no noise around them? This situation is tinnitus. People with tinnitus are usually very irritable, often distracted, and unable to sleep at night. In more serious cases, it can affect their life and work. However, many people do not have a thorough understanding of tinnitus. So what causes tinnitus?

Tinnitus is the result of different pathological changes of many diseases involving the auditory system. The cause is complex and the mechanism is unclear. It is mainly manifested as the absence of corresponding external sound sources or electrical stimulation, but the subjective sensation of sound in the ear or brain. Clinically, it is both a concomitant symptom of many diseases and the first symptom of some serious diseases (such as acoustic neuroma).

1. Due to obstruction of the external auditory canal, acute and chronic inflammation of the middle ear, stapes fixation and other diseases, tinnitus is often low-pitched and inconsistent with the degree of deafness. Need to pay more attention etc.

2. Inner ear receptor lesions and auditory nerve damage. Abnormal auditory signals caused by stimulation of auditory hair cells may be the main cause of tinnitus. The irritable state (depolarization) of hair cells can induce early or transient tinnitus due to brief hypoxia. For example, degeneration of hair cells and poor contact between auditory cilia and the tectorial membrane can cause persistent tinnitus. If it is localized hair cell damage, the nature of the tinnitus is close to pure tone cochlear nerve fibers. If they are mechanically stimulated, they can directly act on nerve cells and induce abnormal nerve impulses, causing rhythmic tinnitus. Under normal circumstances, the efferent pathway of the cochlea plays a role in regulating nerve conduction, and any obstruction of this bundle can also cause symptoms of tinnitus. This type of tinnitus is common in ischemic diseases of the brainstem.

3. Tympanic plexus reflex: Since the tympanic plexus belongs to the central nerve plexus, it is connected through the glossopharyngeal nerve, trigeminal nerve and carotid sympathetic nerve fibers. After receiving excitatory stimulation, it is transmitted to the central superior frontal gyrus to form tinnitus.

4. Chronic visceral diseases The vasomotor nerve fibers of the internal auditory artery come from the inferior cervical ganglion and fuse with the first ganglion to form the stellate ganglion, which are connected to the abdominal organs through the vagus nerve. Therefore, the internal organs produce nerve impulses, which can cause spasmodic contraction or expansion of the inner ear blood vessels, change the blood supply to the inner ear, and cause tinnitus.

The above is some introduction to tinnitus. People with tinnitus must be careful not to drink too much coffee and must drink less alcohol, because coffee and alcohol will reduce your blood oxygen and damage your hair cells. Also, do not stay in places with loud noises for a long time, such as Internet cafes, nightclubs, etc. It is best to wear earmuffs or earplugs when going to these places. Finally, it is also important to relax.
