What should I do if I have intestinal motility disorder?

Intestinal motility disorder should not be so unfamiliar to many patients, and it is also a relatively common disease. Many patients will experience this phenomenon when they overeat, and patients with slow gastrointestinal motility are also prone to this phenomenon. So, what should be done about intestinal motility disorder? Let’s take a brief look at it!

It is advisable to eat small meals frequently, 6 to 7 times a day, to ensure the quantity of staple food and calorie intake. At the same time, pay attention to eating only drier foods during meals, and drink water 30 minutes before or 45 minutes after meals to slow down the speed at which food enters the small intestine and promote food digestion and absorption.

In the early stages, you should avoid sweet fruit juices, sweet desserts, cakes and other high-sugar foods. It is better to choose foods rich in soluble fiber, such as millet porridge, to delay sugar absorption and avoid hypoglycemia.

Intestinal dysfunction occurs, including intestinal obstruction, constipation and diarrhea. If you have constipation, you should increase your water intake, 6 to 8 glasses of water a day, and pay attention to the intake of foods containing fine fiber, such as vegetables, potatoes, etc.

If diarrhea occurs, different dietary methods should be adopted according to different periods. In the acute phase, that is, when diarrhea is severe, patients should temporarily fast and replenish water and electrolytes through intravenous infusion. During the improvement period, you can eat steamed egg custard, rice porridge, minced meat and vegetable porridge, etc. During the recovery period, you can eat soft rice with low fat and residue, and avoid eating coarse grains.

Generally, patients do not need to rest in bed, but they must have a regular daily life and engage in appropriate physical activities to strengthen their physical fitness. Patients with severe diarrhea must go to the hospital for treatment, otherwise they will easily become dehydrated. They should also receive intravenous nutrition to improve malnutrition in patients.
