How to treat varicose veins and leg ulcers?

Although varicose veins are not a fatal disease, they will still have more or less impact on the life and work of patients. The treatment of varicose veins, which is what everyone calls old leg rot, cannot be ignored. I believe many people want to know how to treat varicose veins. Now, I will tell you about some information I have recently compiled about the treatment of varicose veins. Let’s take a look together.

Extravascular laser or pulsed light

The principle is the same as that of laser cosmetic surgery for removing spots. The advantages are that it only requires local anesthesia, the treatment time is short, the pain is low, the wound is quite small, it will not leave ugly scars, and you can walk immediately. But it only treats tiny varicose spider veins and requires several courses of treatment to be effective.

Drug treatment

Many people choose to seek treatment, but taking medicine can only relieve symptoms and delay the progression of the disease. This is because once the veins become varicose, they are like a rubber band that loses its elasticity due to excessive force. No medicine or method can restore it to its previous state. Simply taking medicine cannot achieve the goal of curing varicose veins.

Sclerotherapy

A hypertonic solution is injected into the varicose veins to destroy the vascular endothelium, causing them to heal and disappear. However, it can only treat small varicose vessels, and the treatment may cause severe pain, pigmentation, and even inflammation, redness, swelling, ulceration and other sequelae. It is also prone to recurrence and difficult to deal with after recurrence. This method was a relatively simple method used in grassroots hospitals in the 1990s.

Surgery

The traditional surgical treatment method is to remove and strip the entire varicose vessel. Traditional surgical treatment requires multiple incisions on the skin of the lower limbs, and the great saphenous vein is extracted segment by segment using an extractor. The postoperative pain is obvious, and many patients are afraid to walk for two or three days due to the postoperative pain. Large scars are often left after the operation.

Laser therapy

Laser treatment for varicose veins uses the conduction properties of semiconductor lasers to puncture into blood vessels and conduct laser light to burn and block varicose vein blood flow. It can easily cause hardening of the blood vessel walls, damage the skin and nerves, and in severe cases, form blood clots.

If varicose veins are caused by pregnancy, or the condition is mild and the patient is older and not suitable for surgery, it is recommended to wear elastic stockings to improve the condition. Regarding varicose veins, medicine is so advanced now that there are many treatments. You don’t have to worry too much. I wish all patients and friends can recover their health soon!
