1. Environmental factors

(1) Diet: Irregular diet may increase the risk of gastrospasm. Raw, cold, and stomach-irritating foods can often cause recurrence of gastrospasm.

(2) Smoking: The incidence of gastric spasm in long-term smokers is significantly higher than that in non-smokers.

(3) Drugs: Some drugs, such as aspirin, can destroy the autoregulatory function of gastric acid secretion and the gastric mucosal barrier, and can cause gastrospasm.

2. Genetic factors: The onset of gastric spasm is closely related to genetic factors.

3. Physical and mental factors: Long-term psychological stress or continuous high mental tension can easily lead to peptic gastric spasm. Some chronic diseases are prone to be accompanied by gastric spasm, such as gastrinoma, alkalitropic leukemia, chronic obstructive pulmonary emphysema, cirrhosis, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic renal failure, etc.

Clinical manifestations: People with gastric spasm mainly experience upper abdominal pain, vomiting, etc. Patients with stomach problems, such as gastric ulcers, stomach cold, gastritis, etc., are very likely to suffer from stomach muscle cramps.

Differential Diagnosis

1. Acute stomach pain

Common cases include acute and chronic gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers, and gastric neurosis. It is also seen in diseases such as gastric mucosal prolapse, gastroptosis, pancreatitis, cholecystitis and cholelithiasis. Acute stomach pain comes on suddenly, changes rapidly, and the condition is serious. The patient feels severe stomach pain, accompanied by hiccups, bloating, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, chest tightness and other symptoms.

2. Chronic stomach pain

It is common in chronic gastritis, which refers to various chronic inflammatory lesions of the gastric mucosa caused by different causes. It is a common disease, and its incidence rate ranks first among various stomach diseases. Since the widespread use of fiber endoscopy, the understanding of this disease has been significantly improved. Chronic gastritis often has a certain degree of atrophy (loss of mucosal function) and metaplasia, often involving the cardia, accompanied by loss of G cells and decreased gastrin secretion, and may also involve the body of the stomach, accompanied by loss of acid-secreting glands, leading to a decrease in gastric acid, pepsin, and intrinsic factor.

3. Gastrointestinal flatulence

Due to gastrointestinal obstruction or obstruction caused by various reasons, gastrointestinal gas cannot be discharged from the body with gastrointestinal peristalsis, and accumulates in the gastrointestinal tract, which is called gastrointestinal flatulence. Flatulence can be either functional or organic. For example, irritable bowel syndrome and gastroparesis caused by diabetes can cause gastrointestinal bloating to become functional bloating. Pyloric obstruction and intestinal obstruction are mostly caused by organic bloating. It often coexists with constipation.

4. Stomach cold pain

It is the clinical manifestation of stomach cold. Stomach cold syndrome refers to the symptoms caused by Yin cold staying in the stomach, which is mostly caused by overeating raw and cold food.

Patients should avoid eating pineapples and bananas on an empty stomach because they contain strong acids that can damage the stomach. If you must eat pineapple, you should eat it after a meal so that the nutrients can be used by the body. Otherwise, you will cause bloating. You should also eat more celery, which is rich in crude fiber and helps bowel movements, and eat less potatoes, taro, sweet potatoes, etc., as these foods are not easy to digest.
