How to treat the small red bumps on the glans?

There are some small red bumps on the glans penis, which should be balanitis. This disease is a relatively common disease. Patients should first relax and not be too stressed out because it is neither a sexually transmitted disease nor a tumor. It may be caused by not paying enough attention to hygiene or having unclean sexual life before. Then, it is uncomfortable to have some small bumps on the glans. So how to treat it?

Balanitis: Many patients develop erythema or small papules on the glans of the penis. Balanitis is divided into balanitis and posthitis. Since they often appear at the same time, it is called balanitis. This inflammation can be infectious or non-infectious, and infectious balanitis is more common clinically. Infectious ones are often caused by unclean sexual intercourse, infection with Candida albicans, Trichomonas, Chlamydia, Mycoplasma, Gonorrhea or other bacteria; non-infectious factors are mostly due to excessive foreskin and insufficient cleaning, and the unclean substances between the foreskin and the glans, namely smegma, will accumulate and stimulate local foreskin and mucosa inflammation.

The basic principle of Western medicine treatment is anti-inflammatory and bactericidal. Generally, both internal and external treatments are used. Erythromycin and tetracycline are the first choice for the treatment of acute superficial balanitis and annular ulcerated balanitis, usually 0.5g per dose, 4 times a day. The first choice for the treatment of trichomoniasis balanitis is metronidazole, 0.2g each time, 3 times a day, for 10 consecutive days. Trichostatin or itraconazole is commonly used to treat balanitis caused by Candida albicans. Trichostatin 100,000 to 200,000 units, twice a day, and itraconazole 100 mg, twice a day, for 7 consecutive days.

External treatment for balanitis:

(1) For trichomoniasis, the glans penis and inner foreskin can be rinsed with 0.5% to 1% lactic acid solution, 0.5% acetic acid solution or 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution.

(2) For candidal balanitis, the affected area can be cleaned with baking soda solution or imidazole ointments such as Daktarin ointment and clotrimazole ointment can be applied externally.

(3) Dandelion wash: Take 30g of dandelion, 30g of wild chrysanthemum, and 10g of alum, decoct them in water and use them to wash the affected area once a day for about 20 minutes each time.

Patients should pay attention to local hygiene and clean the glans and foreskin every day. If the foreskin is very long, surgery should be performed in time. Otherwise it will harbor filth and dirt. Once one of the spouses has a sexually transmitted disease, they should suspend sexual intercourse and change the medication in time to prevent the disease. They should keep themselves clean and urinate once after each sexual intercourse.
