Freon, I don’t know how familiar everyone is with this, but the first time I learned about this word was when I bought a refrigerator at home. I know that Freon has a cooling effect. Early refrigerators were developed using Freon. I believe that everything has its pros and cons, and if used improperly it will still cause some harm to human health. Freon, also known as Freon, is a refrigerant trademark registered by the American DuPont Company. In China, there are different opinions on the definition of Freon. Generally, it is defined as a general term for halogenated products of saturated hydrocarbons (mainly methane, ethane and propane). According to this definition, Freon can be divided into four categories: CFC, HCFC, HFC, etc. Some scholars define Freon as CFC refrigerant. [1] In some materials, Freon only refers to dichlorodifluoromethane (CCl₂F₂, i.e. R12, a type of CFC). Freon is a colorless gas or volatile liquid at room temperature, tasteless or with a slight odor, non-toxic or low-toxic, and has stable chemical properties. Since CFC refrigerants such as dichlorodifluoromethane damage the atmospheric ozone layer, their use has been restricted. Many ozone holes have appeared on the earth, some of which are larger than the area of Africa. A big reason for this is the chemical properties of CFC-type freons. Another hazard of the increase in the concentration of CFCs in the atmosphere is the "greenhouse effect". The typical source of the greenhouse effect on the earth's surface is carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, but most CFCs have similar properties, and their greenhouse effect is even greater than that of carbon dioxide. [9] The greenhouse effect causes the temperature of the earth’s surface to rise, causing global climate anomalies. [3] If the rate of temperature rise continues, scientists predict that by 2050, the global temperature will rise by 2-4 degrees Celsius, and the ice in the Arctic and Antarctic will melt significantly, causing the sea level to rise, and some island countries and coastal cities will be submerged in the sea, including New York, Shanghai, Tokyo and Sydney. So Freon will not decompose near the ground and will not be harmful to humans, but it will be different if you reach the stratosphere. Chlorine atoms are highly toxic! By the way, ozone is also toxic. Freon is low in toxicity and generally won’t cause any problems! Freon is harmful to humans only when it is heated with an open flame. It will destroy the ozone layer, and destroying the ozone layer is of course harmful to humans. The above are the hazards of Freon to the human body that I shared with you. After everyone knows the hazards brought by Freon. I hope that everyone will be more careful in their future lives to avoid the harm caused by Freon to their health. The most important thing is to have a comprehensive understanding of the chemical substance Freon and pay attention to safety issues and your own health during use. |
