How to use a tampon

How to use a tampon

When women have their menstrual period, we usually use sanitary napkins. However, recently a new type of tampon has become popular, which many women have never used. In fact, tampons have always been used in Europe and the United States. Using tampons during menstruation can make us feel the same as not having a menstrual period. Whether we are working or exercising, it will make us feel like we don’t have a menstrual period. So how to use tampons? Let’s learn about it below.

How to use tampons

Cellophane packaging: Wash your hands before use, tear off the seal on the tampon, remove the cellophane at the tail end, then loosen the cotton string, pinch the tail end of the tampon with one hand, remove the cellophane at the tip with the other hand, then insert the tampon into the vagina, pushing it in to a depth of about two knuckles, with the cotton string exposed outside the body.

Parts of a catheter-type tampon. The one on the left is the outer tube. The middle one is the tampon itself with the cotton thread (drawstring) attached. The one on the right is the inner tube. Tube packaging: The tampons in this type of packaging are completely covered in the catheter, so there is no need to worry about contamination from hand contact. When in use, place the front end of the outer tube of the catheter in contact with the vaginal opening, push the inner tube forward, and push the tampon into the vagina in a manner similar to injection, and then remove the catheter (outer tube and inner tube) together.

The purple-red area is the tampon placed in the vagina. There are three postures for insertion: sitting, standing with legs slightly bent, and standing with one leg across a chair. The purpose is to allow the vaginal opening to open slightly so that the tampon can be inserted smoothly. If it cannot be inserted smoothly, you can slightly change the angle of insertion and it will be pushed in smoothly. If you feel the tampon when you walk and move, it's not inserted deep enough and you can put it in a little deeper.

To remove it, just use the cotton string (drawstring) to pull the tampon out. If you can't find the cotton string, you can push the tampon out of the body by exerting force. If you cannot remove the tampon from your body smoothly, please seek help from a professional doctor as soon as possible.

Through the above introduction, we understand how to use tampons. We must pay attention to washing hands when using tampons. Tampons are disposable like sanitary napkins, and the time for using tampons should not be too long. Generally, you should remember to replace them after 3 to 6 hours of use. If there is blood on the sanitary napkin line, you also need to replace the tampon.
