Swimming has become one of the sports activities for many people in the hot summer. Swimming in the cool water is not only comfortable, but also can prevent heatstroke and relieve the summer heat. Many people have fallen in love with swimming, but we know that before using it, what we need to do is to wear earplugs and nasal plugs, so that when swimming, we don’t have to worry about water entering the nose and ears, which is very uncomfortable. But in fact, even with these protective gear, water will still enter the nose. So what should we do if water enters the nose when swimming! Many of my friends have to wear nasal plugs and ear plugs when swimming, otherwise it will be very uncomfortable. The reason is that it is very uncomfortable after water is poured into the nose and ears. In fact, as long as you master the correct breathing method, you don’t need any plugs when swimming. The plugs we bought are actually for synchronized swimming (the athlete in the picture above wears a nose clip to prevent the nose from choking when standing upside down or flipping in the water for a long time) or diving training, and sometimes for scuba diving or special underwater operations. Normal swimming does not require a plug. When swimming, we need to change one habit, that is the habit of breathing through the nose. Our nose can only be used to exhale when we swim, and we cannot stop exhaling when the nose is out of water. As soon as you stop, water will flow back into your forehead through your nasal cavity. Just imagine how uncomfortable it must be to have the water from a chlorinated swimming pool entering your frontal sinuses. You can practice it, the method is very simple: The specific method is as follows: 1. Exhale into the water through your mouth. At first, the water should just be up to the level of your mouth. Then gradually immerse your mouth to your nose, then your entire face, and finally your head in the water for a short breath-holding practice. 2. Exhale slowly through your mouth and nose in the water, and then transition to breathing rhythmically by raising your head. When coming out of the water, you are required to exhale all the air with force, and at the same time, inhale through your mouth as wide as possible, instead of breathing through your nose. After you become proficient, try to keep the time intervals between raising your head and inhaling even, and gradually shorten the time of inhalation! Remember that the nose is only for exhaling, not for inhaling! ! ! With practice, you will no longer need the help of various plugs. We all know that it is very uncomfortable to have water in the nose when swimming, because when swimming, if you breathe, you may accidentally inhale water into the nasal cavity, which may cause suffocation. In order to be able to regulate your breathing well in the water, we need to do warm-up exercises before swimming and breathe in a reasonable way without worrying about water entering the nose. |
