Can you drink water that has been boiled repeatedly?

Many people like to boil water and then boil it for a while, thinking it is safer. In fact, this is a misunderstanding. Water is best within five minutes after boiling. But can you drink water that has been boiled repeatedly? In fact, nitrite will be produced after boiling water for a long time, and the longer it is boiled, the higher the amount will be. However, it is understood that even if it has been boiled thousands of times, the nitrite content is very low, so there is no need to worry that repeatedly boiled water cannot be drunk.

Cold boiled water can continue to be drunk after it is boiled. Of course, many people may worry that the increased nitrite content contained in this edema is harmful to the body, but in fact, even if the nitrite content of "thousand-boiled water" has increased after repeated boiling, it is still far below the safety standard, so boiled water can be safely drunk.

Cold boiled water that has been left for a long time must be boiled before drinking.

Drinking raw water can easily cause diarrhea because there are various microorganisms and bacteria in the water, and after being boiled at high temperatures, these microorganisms and bacteria cannot survive and are killed.

However, in the process of boiled water cooling down, the temperature is just right for the reproduction of microorganisms and bacteria. The longer the time, the more they reproduce. Therefore, if you need to drink boiled water that has been left for a period of time again, you must boil it again before drinking it.

The dangers of drinking reheated water

1. After the cold boiled water is boiled for the first time, although the nitrite content will increase, the amount will not affect our health. However, after boiling it many times, the nitrite content will increase exponentially. Such water cannot be drunk frequently. If you drink this kind of water frequently, you will experience dizziness or poisoning reactions. Therefore, we recommend that you pour out the boiled water and heat it with new water.

2. The nitrite produced by repeated boiling of cold boiled water will react with the stomach acid in our body to form a substance called ammonium nitrate, which is carcinogenic.

How long can boiling water be kept?

The shelf life of a glass of water is only 16 hours, and the total number of bacteria in overnight boiled water is higher than that in tap water.

According to experimental data, the total number of E. coli in boiled water will seriously exceed the standard after being left in the air for 16 hours. Therefore, boiled water has a shelf life of 16 hours from the moment the fire is turned off after boiling for 3 minutes.

It is easy to understand that water has a shelf life. Drinking raw water can easily cause diarrhea because there are various microorganisms and bacteria in the water. After being boiled at high temperature, these microorganisms and bacteria cannot survive and are killed.

However, in the process of boiling water cooling down, the temperature is just right for the reproduction of microorganisms and bacteria. The longer the time, the more they reproduce, just like a basin of water left outside, which will deteriorate over time.

There is actually no fixed time for how long it will take for the water to go bad and become unsuitable for drinking, as it is also affected by the objective environment. For example, in summer, the temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius and the air humidity is high, bacteria multiply quickly and are easily contaminated and cause diarrhea.
