How to preserve ginkgo

The mature fruits of the ginkgo tree are what we commonly call ginkgo nuts. Regular consumption of ginkgo nuts can help our health to a certain extent. Although ginkgo nuts are good, there are some things to pay attention to when eating them, because ginkgo nuts themselves contain certain toxins, and eating too much can cause poisoning. As long as you don't eat too much, there is no need to worry. So how should we preserve ginkgo nuts? Let’s take a look.

Drying: Some ginkgo nuts are very moist when you buy them. If you put them in the refrigerator without drying them, they will become moldy. Therefore, you should put the newly bought ginkgo nuts in a ventilated and cool place and turn them over once a day. When shaking, you can hear the kernels shaking, then collect the ginkgo nuts and put them in the refrigerator. However, be careful not to expose the ginkgo nuts to the sun, because after being exposed to the sun, the ginkgo nuts will become dry on the outside and hot and moist on the inside, which will make them more likely to mold.

Refrigeration: The best way to store fresh ginkgo nuts is to refrigerate them. If the indoor room temperature is above 27 degrees Celsius, putting ginkgo in the refrigerator will be of no use. Because the refrigerator door is often opened, the room temperature will leak into the refrigerator, so the food will still go bad. Therefore, it is best to refrigerate ginkgo nuts in the freezer. And the kernels of ginkgo nuts can be kept fresher if placed in the freezer of the refrigerator.

Canning: Find a few glass bottles with good sealing properties. Pour the ginkgo nuts into the bottles and seal the bottle mouths. This way, air and other bacteria cannot contact the ginkgo nuts. This storage method can also store the ginkgo nuts for a long time.

Vacuum bagging: If time permits, you can buy a small air tube for vacuuming and then buy plastic bags specifically for storing food. After putting the ginkgo nuts into the plastic bag, use the small air tube to vacuum out all the air inside the plastic bag, and then seal the plastic bag.

The above introduces four methods of preserving ginkgo nuts in great detail. I hope it can serve as a reference for friends in need. In order to avoid the ginkgo nuts from getting moldy after purchase, you can rest assured as long as you store them correctly according to the above methods. If stored properly, ginkgo can be stored for quite a long time.
