So what should you do if you have a fever with chickenpox?

When chickenpox occurs and the patient has a fever, he should be encouraged to drink more warm water or warm fruit juice, which will not only help the excretion of toxins, but also help lower body temperature and reduce fever. If your body temperature is below 38℃, there is no need to use antipyretics. Just drink more warm water, urinate more, sweat more, and keep warm. If the patient continues to have a high fever, a small dose of antipyretic can be given, such as paracetamol and ibuprofen. Consider antipyretics for the time being, and do not use aspirin, because there are reports that patients with chickenpox who use aspirin may have an increased tendency to develop Reye's syndrome, so it should be used with caution. For patients with chickenpox, do not use physical cooling methods such as alcohol baths and ice packs to avoid skin damage and infection. Instead, give patients decocted Chinese medicine, such as dandelion, isatis indigotica, isatis root, lithospermum officinale, wild chrysanthemum and other Chinese medicines that clear away heat and detoxify.

When the body temperature exceeds 38.5℃, the patient can take oral antipyretics, such as Motrin, or intramuscular injection of antipyretic drugs such as Antongding. Generally, physical cooling should be chosen, such as warm water baths or ice packs on the forehead to cool down.
