Is diesel harmful to the human body?

Diesel is a natural energy source and is needed in large quantities in today's society. As a source of energy for transportation and other tools, diesel is becoming increasingly indispensable in our lives. Although diesel has great benefits to our lives, it also has some harm to our bodies. Diesel is quite harmful to the human body. Let us introduce it to you in detail below.

The toxicity of diesel is similar to that of kerosene, but due to the influence of additives such as sulfide esters, its toxicity may be slightly greater than that of kerosene. It mainly has anesthetic and stimulating effects. There were no reports of occupational poisoning during production. Toxic health effects: Diesel is a high boiling point component, so the chance of toxicity due to vapor when used is small.

Health hazards: Acute poisoning: Has an anesthetic effect on the central nervous system. Symptoms of mild poisoning include dizziness, headache, nausea, vomiting, unsteady gait, and ataxia. Inhalation of high concentrations can cause toxic encephalopathy. Inhalation of extremely high concentrations can cause sudden loss of consciousness and reflex respiratory arrest. May be accompanied by toxic peripheral neuropathy and chemical pneumonia. Some patients develop toxic psychosis.

Inhalation of diesel droplets can cause aspiration pneumonia. Skin contact with diesel can cause contact dermatitis. It is most common on the hands, wrists and forearms. Diesel exhaust, the exhaust gas produced by internal combustion engines burning diesel, can often seriously pollute the environment. The exhaust gas contains nitrogen oxides, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, aldehydes and a large amount of black smoke from incomplete combustion. Black smoke contains unburned oil mist, carbon particles, some high-boiling point heterocyclic and aromatic substances, and some carcinogens such as 3.4-benzopyrene.

The product enters the human body mainly through skin absorption and inhalation through the respiratory tract. Occupational exposure limits in the workplace: China MAC (maximum allowable concentration) has no regulations; the United States TWA (time-weighted average concentration) has no regulations

Prevention methods: Strictly follow the operating procedures and use personal protective equipment correctly.

The hazards of diesel to the human body are as introduced above. Knowing the harm of diesel to the human body, we must be extra careful and attentive in our daily lives. This is the only way to ensure that we live a healthier life. It will not affect our normal life and physical health. In addition, we should also pay attention to actively increasing our body's resistance.
