Are rotten eggs poisonous?

In Northeast my country, many people pickle eggs in winter because they can be eaten as pickles and they taste better. But sometimes, due to storage reasons, we find that pickled eggs become smelly. Such stinky eggs smell very similar to stinky tofu and taste better. So are stinky eggs poisonous?

Harmful. Rotten eggs contain sulfur substances, and bacteria and mold also invade the eggs through the pores of the eggshell and grow and multiply rapidly, causing the eggs to rot and deteriorate. As these bacteria multiply and grow, proteins quickly decompose and eventually become putrefactive substances and corpse toxins such as skatole that are harmful to the human body. If people eat such rotten eggs, they will develop poisoning symptoms similar to acute gastroenteritis, which will seriously endanger human health. Rotten eggs are the result of bacteria invading the eggs and multiplying in large numbers. Eating them will cause bacterial food poisoning.

When pickling eggs, if you put too little salt, the pickling is too light and the room temperature is still relatively high, the eggs will become smelly. It is recommended to eat less or no such eggs, because pickled foods themselves contain nitrites and other substances that are harmful to the body, and spoiled eggs are even more unsuitable for use. The longer such eggs are left, the smellier they will become.

01 Rotten eggs refer to fresh eggs that have become rotten and smelly due to the invasion of various bacteria and microorganisms into the eggs!

03 In stinky eggs, bacteria and mold also invade the egg through the pores of the eggshell and grow rapidly! The nutrients in the egg, such as protein, are quickly decomposed, producing unpleasant-smelling sulfides! Sulfides not only smell bad, but are also harmful to the human body!

04 After the human body ingests rotten eggs, it will develop poisoning symptoms similar to acute gastroenteritis, and gastrointestinal reactions such as diarrhea and vomiting will occur, which will seriously endanger human health!
