The insects that centipedes eat include crickets, locusts, beetles, cicadas, grasshoppers, various flies and bees, and even spiders, earthworms, snails, as well as frogs, mice, birds, lizards and snakes that are much larger than their bodies. When food is scarce in early spring, they can also eat a small amount of grass and moss shoots. When raised artificially, some are fed loaches, fresh fish, frogs, shrimps, crabs, etc., but they require the food to be fresh and will not eat if it is slightly rotten.
