How do you know if your liver is damaged? A look tells you

Liver damage can have a great impact on our body, causing symptoms such as loss of appetite, decreased immunity, etc. People with liver damage should stop drinking alcohol. Secondly, they should maintain a good lifestyle, exercise more, eat more vegetables, and eat small meals frequently. Don't eat greasy food, as it will add burden to the liver.

Symptoms of liver damage 1. Alcohol consumption and liver are inseparable

The opportunities for dining out and partying have increased accordingly, and there are many cases of liver disease recurrence caused by excessive drinking. Most alcohol must be metabolized by the liver. Drinking a large amount of alcohol in a short period of time will place a heavy metabolic burden on the already diseased liver and cause acute illness.

Symptoms of liver damage 2. Yellow eyes and pale complexion

If a person's eyeballs turn yellow, people around him will most likely think that he has hepatitis. Even if he does not feel unwell, his family and friends will urge him to go to the hospital. It is true that one cannot live without yellow eyes all day long, and there is some truth to this. The yellowing of the whites of the eyes and skin is called jaundice. Jaundice is the most easily detected symptom of hepatitis. When jaundice forms, the skin and mucous membranes turn yellow, the most obvious being the whites of the eyes (the whites of the eyeballs), which sometimes are not obvious under lighting but are easy to identify in outdoor sunlight. To confirm the diagnosis, blood and urine tests are done to determine if bilirubin levels are elevated. Here, we need to explain bilirubin: the lifespan of red blood cells in human blood is about 120 days. When they die, they will rupture and release indirect bilirubin, which is transported to the liver with the blood and absorbed by liver cells. It is processed into direct bilirubin in the liver cells, then excreted outside the liver cells and enters the duodenum as the main component of bile, and is finally excreted with feces. The reason why feces is yellow-brown is because it contains bile. If the liver is damaged or diseased, or the bile duct is blocked, bilirubin will not be excreted smoothly and will flow back into the blood. A blood test for liver function may reveal elevated bilirubin in the blood. It will deposit on the skin and mucous membranes and appear as a yellow face and eyes visible to the naked eye. It will be excreted in the urine and appear dark tea color. Sometimes bilirubin cannot be excreted into the intestines, and the stool color will become lighter or even clay color.

What to eat for liver damage

milk

Currently, there is no specific medicine for the treatment of liver disease in the medical community. Only high-quality protein can eliminate harmful fats in the liver and regenerate liver cells. Therefore, patients with liver disease should drink two glasses of milk every day to alleviate their condition. Drinking milk is easy to digest because the protein in milk is complete protein with a digestibility of up to 98%, and milk fat is high-quality fat with a digestibility of over 95%.

pitaya

In addition to being rich in albumin, dragon fruit also has a more special ingredient - anthocyanin. Anthocyanins are found in fruits and vegetables such as grape skins and red beets, but the highest content is found in pitaya, especially in the red flesh variety. It has antioxidant, anti-free radical and anti-aging effects, and can also enhance the repair effect on liver cells.

Grape

The polyphenols contained in grapes are natural free radical scavengers with strong antioxidant activity. They can effectively adjust the function of liver cells and resist or reduce the damage caused by free radicals to them.
