Detailed explanation of how to get molluscum contagiosum

The main group of people who suffer from molluscum contagiosum in life are children. Molluscum contagiosum is a common skin disease, which is mainly caused by molluscum contagiosum virus. If everyone knows more about the transmission routes of molluscum contagiosum, we can greatly reduce the incidence of this disease.

The first mode of transmission of molluscum contagiosum: direct contact transmission, which is more common in children and can easily spread in kindergartens and daycare centers.

The second mode of transmission of molluscum contagiosum: self-inoculation. Patients often scratch the lesions, resulting in multiple disseminated infections.

The third mode of transmission of molluscum contagiosum: sexual contact. Molluscum contagiosum transmitted through sexual contact is often seen on the external genitalia, buttocks, lower abdomen, pubic area and inner thigh area, and occurs in the anus during anal sex. Skin lesions can occur on any contact site except the palms and soles, and may also appear on the lips, tongue, buccal mucosa, conjunctiva, etc. Conjunctival lesions may be accompanied by reactive conjunctivitis or keratitis. A few lesions are extremely large, called giant molluscum, and some may keratinize and resemble small horns, called keratotic molluscum. Generally no symptoms. Therefore, the World Health Organization lists it as a sexually transmitted disease.

The fourth mode of transmission of molluscum contagiosum: indirect transmission. Through public bathing facilities, swimming pools, towels, etc., public bathrooms and hotels with poor sanitary conditions are the "distribution centers" of molluscum contagiosum.
