What harm does rubber do to the human body

Rubber products are very common in our lives. Because rubber is very strong and durable, and has a certain degree of elasticity, rubber products are widely used in life. However, although rubber itself is non-toxic, the rubber products we usually use contain a large amount of additives, which are harmful to the human body. So, what harm does rubber do to the human body?

1. The harm of rubber to human body

Natural rubber is non-toxic, but too many additives in the processing process may have an impact on the human body. It depends on what kind of rubber product it is. Substances such as sulfur dioxide and formaldehyde may be used in the rubber production process.

1. Sulfur dioxide

Long-term exposure to low concentrations of sulfur dioxide can cause decreased or even disappearance of the sense of smell and taste, headache, fatigue, tooth erosion, chronic rhinitis, and pharyngitis. The impact on the lungs should be greater, causing tracheitis, bronchitis, emphysema, increased lung markings, diffuse pulmonary interstitial fibrosis, and decreased immune function.

2. Formaldehyde

Formaldehyde has a strong irritating effect on human skin and mucous membranes. It can cause the proteins in cells to coagulate and deform, inhibiting all cell functions. Long-term exposure to low doses of formaldehyde can cause chronic respiratory diseases, nasopharyngeal cancer, colon cancer, brain tumors; pregnancy syndrome, and cause chromosomal abnormalities and leukemia in newborns. Formaldehyde generates methanol in the body, which has a strong damaging effect on the thalamus and retina. Formaldehyde can also cause abnormal smell, irritation, allergies, abnormal lung function, and abnormal immune function.

2. Measures to reduce the harm of rubber in the working environment

Maintain air circulation in the workplace; absorb toxic gases; take personal protection measures; strengthen monitoring of toxic and hazardous substances in the workplace; strengthen occupational physical examinations; wearing a gas mask can have a certain effect.

3. How to remove the rubber smell

1. Soak 300 grams of black tea in two basins of hot water, place the rubber products in the basins, and open the windows for ventilation. Within 48 hours, the rubber smell will drop by more than 90% and the irritating smell will be basically eliminated.

2. Purchase 800 grams of granular activated carbon to remove formaldehyde. Will
