The difference between external hemorrhoids and internal hemorrhoids, just look at the following to know

There is a difference between external hemorrhoids and internal hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are caused by varicose veins in the anus and local congestion, which will bring a lot of inconvenience to the patient's daily life. Hemorrhoids are divided into internal hemorrhoids and external hemorrhoids. So, what is the difference?

Internal hemorrhoids:

Internal hemorrhoids usually occur above the dentate line of the anal canal. They are formed by the enlargement and varicose veins of the supramolecular plexus under the mucosa, forming a soft venous mass. The area above the dentate line is mainly controlled by the autonomic nerves and is insensitive to pain stimuli, so patients with internal hemorrhoids generally do not feel pain.

The main symptoms of internal hemorrhoids are generally bloody stools, prolapsed hemorrhoids, difficulty in defecation, inability to wipe clean after defecation, and a feeling of heaviness and distension. Internal hemorrhoids bleed in large amounts and the blood is bright red, sometimes dripping and sometimes spurting. When internal hemorrhoids are severe, coughing or walking can cause the hemorrhoids to prolapse and become unable to retract on their own.

external hemorrhoids:

External hemorrhoids occur below the dentate line and are lumps formed by varicose veins of the external hemorrhoidal plexus or inflammation, hypertrophy, connective tissue hyperplasia or thrombosis of the skin in the anal folds.

External hemorrhoids occur below the dentate line. This area is innervated by somatic nerves and is sensitive to pain stimuli. External hemorrhoids do not cause bleeding. Patients usually experience pain and perianal lumps as the main symptoms. External hemorrhoids and perianal lumps may proliferate and harden under the stimulation of chronic inflammation, causing moisture, pain, and discomfort around the anus. When the lumps are damaged or infected, inflammatory symptoms such as redness, swelling, heat, and pain may occur, and may be accompanied by general discomfort and fever.
