What are the nursing measures for brain hernia?

What are the nursing measures for brain hernia?

If brain hernia is not treated in time, it will directly threaten life. Therefore, when the precursor symptoms of brain hernia are found, you must pay attention and give the patient oxygen in time to keep the airway open. At the same time, pay attention to observe the patient's pupil consciousness state, and prepare for ventricular drainage if necessary.

1. If the patient is found to have symptoms of brain hernia, notify the doctor immediately; at the same time, place the patient in a side-lying or supine position with the head tilted to one side. If the patient is agitated, prevent him from falling out of bed.

2. Rapidly establish intravenous access and give dehydration and intracranial pressure-reducing drugs as prescribed by the doctor. Usually, 20% mannitol 250 ml is used for rapid intravenous drip.

3. Inhale oxygen, keep the airway open, prepare a suction device, and clear vomit and sputum in time.

4. Closely observe changes in the patient's pupils, consciousness, respiration, blood pressure, heart rate, and blood oxygen saturation; monitor the ECG, blood pressure, and blood oxygen saturation; and prepare for ventricular drainage if necessary.

5. When the patient's breathing and heart stop beating, cardiopulmonary resuscitation measures such as external chest compression, endotracheal intubation, simple respirator or ventilator-assisted breathing should be taken immediately, and respiratory stimulants, cardiotonic drugs and other medications should be given as prescribed by the doctor.

6. Place an ice pack or ice cap on the head to increase the brain tissue's tolerance to hypoxia and prevent cerebral edema.

7. After the condition improves, provide basic nursing and psychological care

8. After the rescue is completed, write a nursing record.
