What are the causes of procrastination

What are the causes of procrastination

Procrastination is a postponing behavior that fails to self-regulate, and it is a very common behavior in today's society. There are many reasons for procrastination, which are related to the behavioral habits and psychology of procrastinators. Many procrastinators procrastinate because they don't like what they do.

1. Don’t like

If you are asked to do something you don't like to do, you will definitely find it boring and difficult. You will not agree with it and want to be lazy. So you should do something you like first and delay it as much as possible.

2. Pursuit of perfection and fear of failure

In addition to not liking to do it, many times, you are worried that you will not do it well, so you are timid, hesitant, and dare not let go to do it. Even if you start to do it, you must spend a considerable amount of time striving for perfection, which leads to procrastination.

3. Fighting other people’s emotions

Everyone has an emotional side. Especially when someone asks you to do something and makes you unhappy, you will want to delay doing it to fight against him.

4. Procrastination has become a habit

No matter what the situation is, when you procrastinate frequently, it will become a habit over time. No matter big or small, simple or difficult, you will procrastinate and form inertial procrastination.

5. Note

Procrastination is not innate, it is learned from the people around you, but not directly. It may come from an authoritarian parenting style, and procrastination may even be a form of rebellion. In this family environment, friends' tolerance of procrastinators can encourage this habit. Essentially, procrastination is a form of escape. You must be avoiding something, and because of the escape, you procrastinate. People with procrastination have no concept of time, are seriously late for punctuality, do not treat other people's time as their own, which affects other people's emotions and also undermines team collaboration.
