How to deal with steam burns appropriately

Friends who often cook in life will know that when steaming food, if you are not careful, you can easily get scalded by steam. At this time, you should rinse with tap water in time, because this can lower the temperature of the skin surface and reduce damage.

Rinse the burned area with cool water first; this will make it feel better. The purpose of cold water flushing is to relieve pain, reduce exudation and swelling, and thus avoid or reduce blister formation. The flushing time should be about half an hour or more, until you no longer feel pain when you stop flushing.

The general water temperature is about 20℃. Avoid using ice water to avoid frostbite. If the burn is on your fingers, you can also take a cold water bath. After cold water treatment, wipe the wound dry, then apply a thin layer of blue oil hydrocarbon, green ointment or other ointment medicines, and then bandage it appropriately for 1 to 2 days to prevent blisters.

If blisters are formed, you can use a sterile syringe to suck out the water or cut a small hole to release the water; if the blisters are broken, wipe them dry with a sterile cotton ball to keep them dry and prevent the water from accumulating into lumps. After a burn, avoid applying gentian violet or mercurochrome to avoid affecting the observation of changes in the wound.

It is wrong to soak in soy sauce after being scalded, because soy sauce itself contains a large number of bacteria, which is not conducive to heat dissipation and can easily cause wound infection. Do not apply toothpaste after burns.

If your hands are scalded by steam, you must treat them promptly, otherwise after blisters form, the degree of pain will increase proportionally. The above describes in detail the treatment methods for steam burns. In the future, you must be careful in your daily life and try to avoid steam burns on the back of your hands. If the burn is serious, go to the hospital for treatment in time.
