Pain on the right side of your mouth when you open it?

The pain in the bones on the right side when opening your mouth is caused by mumps or occlusal arthritis. In this case, it is best to go to a regular hospital for treatment, use some blood-activating and blood-stasis-removing medicines, avoid opening your mouth too wide when eating, eat less hard food, and you can also relieve the pain through acupuncture or massage. If the symptoms cannot be relieved, it is best to take medication under the guidance of a doctor in time.

What causes mumps?

The patient is the source of infection, inhalation of droplets is the main route of transmission, and the disease will occur 2-3 weeks after contact with the patient. The main symptom of mumps is swelling under one or both earlobes. The swollen parotid gland is often hemispherical, with unclear edges centered on the earlobe. The surface is hot and tender, and local pain is felt when opening the mouth or chewing. Parotid gland swelling is most obvious 1-3 days after onset, then gradually subsides, and the swelling completely disappears in about 2 weeks. In the first 3-5 days of the disease, there may be systemic symptoms such as fever, fatigue, and unwillingness to eat.

There are three pairs of salivary glands: the parotid glands, sublingual glands, and submandibular glands, with the largest pair being the parotid glands. When a child gets mumps, his face looks like a fat man with a swollen face. Because the parotid glands are located on both sides of the cheeks near the earlobes, the swollen parotid glands during mumps are centered on the earlobes and spread to the surrounding areas, so mumps is commonly known as "big mouth". Because the swelling is sometimes severe and tends to look like a "pig head", people also call this symptom "pig head fat".

Once mumps is discovered, the child should be isolated immediately and rest in bed. The food should be soft and easy to digest, and avoid spicy and sour foods. Because these foods can easily stimulate the secretion of salivary glands, causing local pain to increase. Drink more boiled water and keep your mouth clean. You can also rinse your mouth with compound borax solution. The swollen area can be applied with Chinese medicine, take 15 grams of Indigo, or 15 grams of the Chinese patent medicine Ruyi Jinhuangsan, and mix it with water. External application can reduce local pain and help reduce swelling. You can also take Isatis root granules at the same time.

Once a child has mumps, he or she should be isolated until the swelling of the parotid gland has completely subsided before going to daycare or school to avoid infecting other children. Since mumps can easily spread in childcare institutions, if a child is found with mumps, morning check-ups should be strengthened. Children who have had contact with suspected children should be observed for 21 days and take isatis root granules orally for preventive treatment. Usually for 3-5 consecutive days. One thing to note is that immunoglobulin has no preventive effect on mumps.
