Is acupuncture effective in treating traumatic injuries?

Acupuncture is a common method in daily life to treat traumatic injuries. It is effective for joint contusions, ligament injuries or soft tissue injuries, especially lumbar muscle strain or tendon ganglion cysts. Acupuncture therapy can be used to treat these problems.

??1. Traumatic injuries are very common in daily life, such as joint sprains, ligament injuries, soft tissue contusions, fractures, nerve damage, etc. Many people know that Chinese medicine bone-setting techniques and Chinese medicine for internal and external use are very effective. In fact, acupuncture treatment is also very effective when used in conjunction with injuries.

2. In the early stages of traumatic injury, due to improper exercise or external force, the blood vessels in the injured area are damaged, and the blood that has left the meridians overflows, blocking the meridians. Therefore, the syndrome at this stage is mostly diagnosed as qi stagnation and blood stasis, which belongs to what Chinese medicine calls a solid syndrome and a painful syndrome. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that if there is excess, it should be drained. At this time, bloodletting therapy can drain the excess, astringe and stop bleeding, dredge meridians, reduce swelling and relieve pain, so that the patient's severe pain at the site of injury, reduce swelling and shorten the course of the disease. However, bloodletting therapy should be performed within 3 days of injury. If the time is too long, the real symptoms may have turned into a mixture of real and false symptoms, and bloodletting should not be performed again.

3. In clinical practice, comparative studies have found that fracture patients who receive acupuncture treatment have faster wound healing and callus growth, and a significantly shorter recovery period than those who do not receive acupuncture treatment. Acupuncture may be the first choice for treating other injuries, such as lumbar muscle strain, tennis elbow, ganglion cyst, and muscle, tendon, and ligament sprains. For patients with nerve damage that is not completely severed, acupuncture is the main treatment method.
