Salt bag hot compress treats tenosynovitis, Chinese medicine treatment is effective

Hot compress can relieve symptoms of tenosynovitis and has a certain effect. However, during an acute attack, there will be local redness and swelling, obvious pain, and fever on the skin. In this case, hot compresses should not be applied, as they can promote swelling and exudation.

1. Hot compress treatment

Hot compress can relieve symptoms of tenosynovitis and has a certain effect. Tenosynovitis is an autologous aseptic inflammatory reaction caused by repeated friction between the tendon and the tendon sheath. It can be acute or chronic. In the acute stage, there is local redness and swelling, obvious pain, and fever of the skin. In this case, hot compress cannot be applied, as it can promote swelling and exudation. In the chronic stage, when local redness and swelling are not obvious and the main problem is tendon adhesion and poor movement, hot compress can be applied.

2. Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment

1. Finger flexor tenosynovitis

Injury to the flexor tendon sheath may cause adhesion, scarring and contracture, leading to local dynamic imbalance and clinical manifestations. During acute attacks in the chronic phase, edema and exudation in the diseased tissues stimulate nerve endings, aggravating the above clinical symptoms. According to the above theory, the pathological structure of the disease is a semi-circular compression, and the key point is just in front of the compression ring. By cutting the tendon sheath fiber ring with a needle knife, the dynamic balance of the finger can be restored.

Acupuncture knife treatment

1) Body position: Sit, thumbs abducted, palms facing up on the treatment table.

2) Surface positioning: Position the beaded nodules on the palm side of the thumb and 2nd to 5th metacarpophalangeal joints as the insertion point for closed needle knife surgery.

3) Anesthesia: 1% lidocaine local anesthesia.

4) Special needle knife with curved bevel blade.

5) Acupuncture knife release.

2. Radial styloid stenosing tenosynovitis

When the tendon sheath of the radial styloid process is injured, adhesion and contracture occur, resulting in dynamic imbalance inside and outside the sheath, and clinical manifestations occur. During acute attacks in the chronic phase, edema and exudation stimulate nerve endings, exacerbating the clinical manifestations. According to the above theory, the disease can be cured by using a needle knife to loosen adhesions inside and outside the sheath, so that the dynamic balance of the radial styloid process can be restored.

Acupuncture knife treatment

1) Body position: Sitting, the patient makes a fist and places the affected wrist on the treatment table.

2) Surface positioning: Use gentian violet to locate the area of obvious tenderness on the radial styloid process, which will be used as the insertion point for closed acupuncture knife surgery.

3) Anesthesia: 1% lidocaine for local anesthesia.

4) Needle knife release: After routine disinfection, the needle knife blade line is parallel to the radial artery. The needle knife body is inserted vertically into the skin. You will feel the toughness under the knife. Use the lifting and inserting knife method to cut 2 to 3 times on the fiber sheath tube. Then the needle knife reaches the bone surface and makes 2 to 3 longitudinal and transverse peelings in the tendon sheath. After removing the needle knife, cover the needle hole with a Band-Aid. If the patient is not cured after one treatment with two-needle knife, another treatment should be performed after 5 days. Generally no more than 3 times.

5) Precautions: Find the correct anatomical position and avoid damaging the radial artery. If swelling and adhesion are severe, be careful not to damage the superficial branch of the radial nerve. The speed of needle insertion should not be too fast, and the four-step needle insertion specification should be strictly followed.
