Consequences of bile duct sclerosis

Consequences of bile duct sclerosis

Biliary duct sclerosis is a very common disease. It usually occurs in the elderly, and most patients with bile duct sclerosis usually suffer from gallstone disease. If you suffer from bile duct sclerosis, you must actively seek treatment. If the treatment is not timely, it is likely to cause liver cancer. While actively receiving treatment, you also need to pay attention to your diet. Try to eat light food and maintain a good attitude.

What are the consequences of bile duct sclerosis?

Choledochosclerosis is not a very serious malignant tumor, but if the disease is not treated in time and handled improperly, it will develop into a malignant tumor. Patients with this disease will feel biliary colic or jaundice. The current treatment of this disease mainly focuses on reducing jaundice, controlling infection and protecting the liver.

Causes of Sclerosing Cholangitis

1. It may be due to some autoimmune diseases, such as ulcerative colitis. This means that sclerosing cholangitis may be an autoimmune phenomenon, an autoimmune process.

2. Long-term and repeated entry of some bacteria in the body into the portal circulation system can also lead to abnormalities in the portal circulation system, thereby causing inflammation of the bile duct, which is called cholangitis.

3. If the colon is infected by chronic viruses for a long time, it will cause bile accumulation, leading to loss of liver and gallbladder function and causing liver and gallbladder damage.

4. It may be due to damage to the bile duct itself, such as some immune damage, mechanical damage, ischemic damage, etc., which are all major causes of cholangitis.

Symptoms of sclerosing cholangitis

This disease often occurs in men and is more common in young men. It is usually related to some inflammatory bowel diseases, especially ulcerative colitis. There are usually no adverse reactions in the early stages of this disease. The invisible onset of the disease is long and slow, and usually physical fatigue, skin itching and jaundice will gradually appear.

Generally speaking, if it is bacterial cholangitis, as the disease progresses, the patient will have pain in the upper right abdomen, high fever and chills throughout the body. In the later stages of the disease, patients will successively develop portal hypertension, liver dysfunction, and even loss of liver function. As the disease continues to progress, patients are very likely to develop osteoporosis and deficiencies in some fat-soluble vitamins. CT examination may also reveal enlarged liver and spleen, accompanied by jaundice.
