What are the symptoms of gastroenteritis

Gastroenteritis is one of the most common diseases, and there are many types of gastroenteritis. The causes are basically caused by unhealthy living and eating habits. Gastroenteritis is very harmful to the body. People with gastroenteritis will encounter many problems in life. Therefore, early detection and early treatment are very important. So, what are the symptoms of gastroenteritis?

The type and severity of gastroenteritis symptoms depend on the type and amount of the microorganism or toxin.

1. Diarrhea, including: abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, fever, loss of appetite, weight loss (may be a sign of dehydration), heavy sweating, cold and clammy skin, muscle pain or joint stiffness, fecal incontinence, etc. Severe vomiting and diarrhea can quickly lead to dehydration, the symptoms of which include weakness, extreme thirst, oliguria or darker urine, dry skin, dry mouth, sunken eyes, and infants may cry with fewer tears. Severe vomiting or diarrhea can cause hyponatremia, hypokalemia, hypotension, etc. Patients who drink large amounts of water with little or no salt to replenish their fluids are particularly susceptible to hyponatremia. Fluid and electrolyte imbalances are potentially dangerous, particularly in seriously ill, debilitated, very young, or elderly patients; severe cases may result in shock and renal failure.

2. Stomach pain: Stomach pain often occurs about 2 hours after a meal, and may even wake you up in the middle of the night. It can be relieved by eating something, and acid reflux is common. It is more likely to occur in autumn and winter, with rhythmic pain in the right upper abdomen. Symptoms and treatment of gastroenteritis. This type of situation may be caused by duodenal ulcer or duodenitis.

3. Poor appetite: feeling bloated after meals or all day, belching but no acid reflux, poor appetite, gradual weight loss, and slightly pale or gray complexion. In this case, chronic gastritis should be considered, especially chronic atrophic gastritis and gastroptosis.
