Symptoms and treatment of gastroenteritis, acute gastroenteritis is the most common

Gastroenteritis is usually acute, with a high incidence in summer and autumn. The most common symptoms are abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting, and weakness in the limbs. To treat acute gastroenteritis, you must pay attention to rest and replenish electrolyte fluids.

1. Symptoms and Signs

1. Systemic symptoms: Chronic wasting symptoms, sallow complexion, lack of energy, laziness, weakness in the limbs, preference for warmth and fear of cold. For example, during the acute inflammatory phase, in addition to fever, symptoms of dehydration, acidosis, or shock and bleeding may be seen.

2. Gastrointestinal symptoms: intermittent abdominal pain, abdominal distension, abdominal pain and diarrhea are the main manifestations of this disease. It is especially prevalent when exposed to cold, eating greasy food, experiencing emotional fluctuations, or after being tired. The frequency of bowel movements increases, with several times or dozens of times a day, anal prolapse, and uncomfortable bowel movements. During acute attacks of chronic enteritis, high fever, abdominal cramps, nausea and vomiting, and urgent watery or sticky, frozen, bloody stools may occur.

3. Physical signs: long-term abdominal discomfort or dull pain in the lower abdomen. Physical examination may show mild tenderness, hyperactive bowel sounds, and rectal prolapse, mainly in the abdomen, around the umbilicus, or in the lower abdomen.

2. Western medicine treatment of acute gastroenteritis

1. General treatment: Rest in bed as much as possible and take glucose-electrolyte solution orally to replenish fluid loss. If vomiting persists or dehydration is obvious, intravenous supplementation of 5%-10% glucose saline and other relevant electrolytes is required. Encourage a light liquid or semi-liquid diet to prevent dehydration or treat mild dehydration.

2. Symptomatic treatment: Antiemetics can be injected if necessary: for example, intramuscular injection of chlorpromazine 25-100 mg/day. Antispasmodics: such as Belladonna 8n 11 times, 3 times a day. Antidiarrheal drugs: such as Smecta, 1 bag each time, 2-3 times a day.

3. Antimicrobial treatment: The therapeutic effect of antibiotics on this disease is controversial. For infectious diarrhea, targeted antibiotics can be appropriately selected, such as berberine 0.3g orally, 3 times a day or gentamicin 80,000U orally, 3 times a day. However, the abuse of antibiotics should be prevented.
