What are the dangers of varicose veins

Varicose veins are a type of tortuosity and dilation of veins. Varicose veins can occur in many parts of the body. There are many dangers of varicose veins, not only physical harm, but varicose veins may also cause venous damage. In this case, it must be treated as soon as possible.

1. In the early stage of the disease, patients often experience soreness, swelling, discomfort and pain. In the later stage, the damaged veins bulge, expand and become tortuous, with the great saphenous vein in the calf being the most severe.

2. Venous damage. Patients with long-term varicose veins have weak venous walls, high venous pressure, and local blood supply deficiency, which causes atrophy of muscle and fat tissue. Varicose veins protrude under the skin and even a slight injury can cause ulcers, which can easily damage the venous walls.

3. Edema combined with eczema. Due to venous congestion, tissue edema worsens, leading to eczematous changes in the skin. Factors that cause varicose veins.

4. Ulcers. The skin is itchy and the patient will scratch it involuntarily, which aggravates the eczema and causes erosions and ulcers. The elderly in Bingcheng often suffer from skin atrophy, desquamation, itching, pigmentation, nodules on the skin and subcutaneous tissue, and even the formation of eczema and ulcers, which may sometimes be complicated by bleeding and thrombophlebitis.

5. Necrosis. This type of ulcer often occurs on the upper part of the medial malleolus and the lower 1/3 of the medial side of the calf. Due to insufficient blood supply to the tissue, the tissue around the ulcer becomes thinner, the skin becomes darker and harder, the ulcer does not heal for a long time, and is prone to recurrence after healing.

6. This disease is related to genetic factors. The incidence rate is higher in people who stand for a long time or do heavy physical labor. It is also related to sex hormones, age, obesity, etc. Any condition that increases the intra-iliac vein pressure, such as pregnancy, large abdominal or pelvic tumors, etc., can cause it. Venous hypertension can lead to venous dilation, valvular regurgitation, impaired valvular function, and changes in the vein walls. Capillary hypertension caused by venous hypertension can lead to capillary leakage and tissue edema. All of these injuries can cause inflammatory responses, which play an important role in the occurrence and development of venous lesions, ultimately leading to skin changes and venous ulcers.
