What is the reason for high creatinine? What causes it?

What causes high creatinine? If you find that your creatinine level is high, don't panic, because there are several reasons for high creatinine. Only by combining the physical symptoms and carefully analyzing the factors causing high creatinine can we prevent and treat the disease accordingly. Creatinine is actually a product of metabolism. When the body's metabolism is not smooth, it is easy to cause high creatinine.

There are many reasons for high creatinine. Creatinine is a metabolic product of human muscle. Since the amount of human muscle will not change significantly in the short term, the concentration of creatinine in human blood is generally stable. At the same time, creatinine is generally filtered through the kidneys and excreted from the body with urine. Therefore, the kidney damage is generally identified by testing the blood creatinine concentration. So what causes high creatinine?

1. Patients with existing kidney disease may experience oliguria or even anuria due to relapse of the disease, which may be combined with acute renal insufficiency, leading to increased blood creatinine.

2. Fatigue, lack of rest, and inattention to life details can also cause a transient increase in blood creatinine.

3. Patients with renal insufficiency, such as concurrent infections, including colds, pneumonia, intestinal infections, urinary tract infections, etc., may experience elevated blood creatinine in a short period of time.

4. Existing hypertension, uncontrolled blood pressure, long-term moderate and large amounts of proteinuria (total urine protein in 24 hours greater than 1 gram or even 1.5 grams) can slowly progress to elevated blood creatinine without being noticed.

5. Water loss in the body, such as fever, sweating, reduced water intake, polyuria leading to blood concentration, reduced renal blood flow, and increased blood creatinine.

6. Patients with existing kidney disease who use drugs that damage the kidneys may experience elevated blood creatinine, which may even be irreversible.
