What are the symptoms of corpus luteum deficiency? The harm is so great

The corpus luteum is a substance for female friends. If there is insufficient corpus luteum in the body, the menstrual cycle will become shorter. Female friends who are preparing for pregnancy are very likely to have miscarriage even if they become pregnant. In severe cases, they may even suffer from infertility.

1. Clinical manifestations

1. Insufficient secretion of progesterone shortens the menstrual cycle.

2. Often a small amount of red vaginal discharge occurs a few days before menstruation, and then menstruation officially comes.

3. Although the basal body temperature is biphasic, it rises or falls in a step-like manner, and the luteal phase is shortened to 10 to 12 days.

4. If pregnant, most patients will have early miscarriage, and a few patients will have infertility.

5. Insufficient corpus luteum leads to insufficient duration of high temperature. As shown in the figure below, the high temperature lasts from the 14th day to the 21st day of menstruation, which only lasts for 8 days. Generally speaking, a high temperature lasting less than 12 days indicates corpus luteum deficiency.

II. Main Impacts

Luteal insufficiency can lead to follicular hypoplasia, incomplete luteinization, and an imbalance in the ratio of estrogen and progesterone secreted by the corpus luteum itself. There are quite a few cases of infertility caused by corpus luteum insufficiency, accounting for about 3%-10% of all infertility cases. Patients with this disease usually do not have any discomfort symptoms, but may not ovulate in several menstrual cycles, and sometimes have excessive and frequent menstruation or prolonged menstruation.

3. Disease Treatment

If it is luteal insufficiency, there are two main methods of treatment. One is to use hormone supplementation therapy, that is, to supplement what hormone is lacking. The other is to use drugs to stimulate luteal therapy. These drugs include female hormones, human chorionic gonadotropin, clomiphene, menstruation regulating and pregnancy promoting pills, etc. In addition, for luteal insufficiency caused by too high prolactin levels in the blood, drugs that lower prolactin, such as bromocriptine, are needed.

Of course, how to use these drugs has different effects on the treatment effect. Too much or too little will not only fail to achieve the treatment effect that varies from person to person, but will also produce certain side effects. In addition, you should seek treatment from an experienced doctor.
