What should I do if I have rheumatic knee pain

Rheumatic pain in the knee is a common phenomenon. For these patients, they should pay attention to care in daily life, rest as much as possible, pay attention to keeping warm, reduce some activities, and pay attention to local hot compresses to relieve pain.

1. Get as much rest as possible

When sudden joint swelling and fever occur, you should move as little as possible and it is best to rest in bed. When resting in bed, try to avoid pressing on the painful joints. You can use a quilt frame to prop up the quilt.

2. Keep joints in functional position

Each joint has a functional position. For example, the functional position of the elbow joint is 90° flexion, the functional position of the wrist joint is 20° dorsiflexion, and the functional position of the shoulder joint is 45° abduction. Maintaining different functional positions when different joints are painful can effectively relieve pain.

3. Apply more hot compress

When the joints are stiff or swollen, you can apply a hot towel to the painful area, which can effectively relieve the pain. However, it should be noted that the towel should not be too hot. Because if the elderly have joint pain, their joints will hurt. In addition, the elderly are less sensitive to pain. If the towel is too hot, it can easily cause skin burns.

4. Exercise more often

People with rheumatic pain should pay more attention to functional exercise. People with rheumatic pain usually experience morning stiffness. If the joints are stiff for too long, muscle atrophy will occur. In order to prevent joint stiffness, you need to exercise more. However, the exercise plan should be formulated according to the patient's age and physical condition. If it is an acute attack of pain or particularly severe swelling, you need to stay in bed and rest more.

5. Acupuncture

If conditions permit, acupuncture treatment can be adopted, but for acupuncture, you must go to a regular place and find a better doctor for regular anti-rheumatic treatment, which can also effectively relieve the pain caused by rheumatism.

6. Don’t eat too much food that is too high in fat, too sour, or too salty.

Foods that are too high in fat will produce a large amount of ketone bodies, which have a strong stimulating effect on joints. Overly acidic foods will lead to increased lactic acid secretion in the body, and overly salty foods will lead to an increase in sodium ions in the body, both of which will aggravate pain.
