What are the symptoms of late-stage glaucoma

Glaucoma is a common eye disease, but it is also relatively complicated because it has many types. Glaucoma is mainly caused by increased intraocular pressure, which leads to visual dysfunction. When glaucoma is in the late stage, vision will be severely reduced or even blind, and headaches, eye swelling, nausea, etc. are common symptoms.

First, vision begins to deteriorate. I often feel that the degree of my glasses is not right. After wearing glasses with the right degree, I often feel pain in my eyes and obvious pain in my head. Because of high myopia, the patient's sclera becomes longer and its elasticity begins to decrease. Because the intraocular pressure of glaucoma patients is relatively high, there will be obvious pain in the eyes. However, many times, this is the only symptom and the doctor does not find it and does not request to measure the intraocular pressure, resulting in missed diagnosis.

Second, eye swelling, headache, and blurred vision. If the patient is emotionally excited or works or stays in a dark place for a long time, the eye pain and headache will be more obvious, but this situation will be relieved after the patient rests. This is the symptom of angle-closure glaucoma. After such a situation occurs repeatedly, severe or obvious headache, eye pain, and nausea will still occur.

Third, the premature onset of presbyopia. Many people's vision begins to decline after the age of 40, especially women. The symptoms of presbyopia are more obvious. This means that our eyes' adjustment function has begun to degenerate. When this happens, we should also pay attention to whether it is caused by early glaucoma.

Fourth, rainbow vision appears when looking at lights at night. When patients look at lights at night, colorful halos will appear. The colors are a bit like a rainbow. This situation is mainly caused by high intraocular pressure in patients, which is caused by changes in the refraction of light by the cornea.
