If the bleeding is too much and too fast, it may even be life-threatening.

Gastric ulcer canceration is more common in older patients with a history of chronic ulcers, accounting for about 2% to 5% of ulcer diseases. Young people may also occasionally develop cancer. Duodenal bulb ulcers have a lower chance of malignant transformation.
