Why does stiff neck occur?

The phenomenon of stiff neck can be said to be relatively common. I believe many people have experienced stiff neck, and stiff neck is closely related to the intervertebral joints. In particular, injuries to the intervertebral joints can easily cause stiff neck. In addition, cervical radiculopathy and muscle spasm will not cause stiff neck.

1. Problems with intervertebral joints

The intervertebral joints can ensure the stability of the cervical spine. Once the intervertebral joints are injured in any way, it often causes stiff neck. However, the only way to diagnose intervertebral joint problems is to perform a diagnostic injection of a substance into the neck, which is not commonly used in clinical practice.

2. Muscle spasms

Muscle spasms are a common cause of stiff neck in children and teenagers.

3. Cervical radiculopathy

This is neck pain caused by nerve irritation.

4Massage the painful area:

Massage is a good way to relieve muscle pain, and you can find a professional chiropractor to help.

5 Exercises to increase your range of motion:

This can speed up the process of getting your neck moving again. Slowly move your neck from left to right and from top to bottom. The key to exercise is to do these exercises gently and slowly, otherwise it will aggravate the symptoms of stiff neck.

6. Change the pillow that suits you:

You can try a special neck pillow instead of your regular pillow. Or if you use a neck pillow and your neck still hurts, remove all pillows and sleep on your back.

7. Stop physical activity for one or two days:

You may not want to sit idle, but playing sports, exercising, or strenuous physical activity can make stiff neck symptoms worse.

8 Hot compress is a relief method often used by many people: and it may be useful for some people, but some doctors do not recommend hot compress. Using a heat pack or warm water can temporarily relax tense muscles, but once the heat disappears, the symptoms of stiff neck will return, and the muscle pain may be more severe than before, especially if the stiff neck is caused by muscle tears.
