How to treat thrombophlebitis?

Thrombophlebitis is a type of venous vascular disease, which is not uncommon in daily life. Many people have veins protruding from the skin, which not only affects personal appearance but also has certain disease properties. Long-term sitting or sitting for a long time, and pregnancy can cause this disease. It can also cause many complications in the body, leading to pain in the affected area, etc. What are the methods for treating thrombophlebitis? Let’s take a look.

Causes

Intravenous administration of highly irritating, high-concentration drugs or prolonged use may damage venous endothelial cells; superficial varicose veins, blood stasis; obesity, smoking, trauma causing venous endothelial damage; bacterial infection, etc. After the venous endothelium is damaged, a thrombus is formed, which quickly leads to an inflammatory reaction of the entire superficial vein wall, and even involves the tissues around the vein. There is exudate, and local manifestations include pain, swelling, and tender cord-like hard strips or beaded nodules, but no obvious systemic reaction.

Clinical manifestations

1. Thrombotic superficial phlebitis of the limbs

Thrombotic superficial phlebitis of the limbs is manifested by local redness, swelling, and pain in the affected limb, and painful cord-like hard strips or beaded nodules can be felt. The deep veins are affected, causing pitting swelling of the affected limb. The swelling and pain worsen when walking and are relieved after lying down. The skin becomes dark red, with extensive varicose veins and capillary dilation. In the later stage, local nutritional changes appear, accompanied by congestive dermatitis, pigmentation or superficial ulcers.

2. Migratory thrombophlebitis

Superficial venous inflammation occurs at irregular locations and is characterized by intermittent, migratory, and alternating attacks throughout the body. It is a special type of superficial venous inflammation in the human body and is often accompanied by female reproductive organs and pancreatic tumors.

3. Superficial thrombophlebitis of the thoracic and abdominal wall

Mondor disease is a disease in which superficial vein thrombosis of the chest wall, breast, ribs, and upper abdominal wall is accompanied by inflammatory pathological changes.

treat

1. General treatment

Remove the cause of phlebitis, such as an intravenous catheter. Such as combined bacterial infection. In the acute phase of lower limb lesions, the affected limb needs to be elevated to avoid standing or sitting for long periods of time. At the same time, medical elastic stockings can be used to promote venous blood return. Local hot compresses, physical therapy, etc. can be used to promote absorption of inflammation and relieve pain.

2. Surgery

If local thrombophlebitis still has cord-like hard objects and pain after the inflammatory phase subsides, surgical removal may be considered. If varicose veins of the lower limbs are combined with thrombotic superficial phlebitis, surgical treatment can be performed after the inflammation subsides.
