How is thromboangiitis treated?

Thrombotic arteritis is a common disease of human skin and blood vessels. It has been troubling many people. It not only has serious effects on the body, but also causes many complications. In severe cases, it can lead to skin ulcers, etc., which seriously endangers human health and affects the patient's normal life, causing redness, purpleness, numbness, etc. in the affected area. It should be treated early.

Etiology and pathology: Thromboangiitis obliterans is a periodic, segmental inflammatory disease of the arteries and veins in young and middle-aged people. Most of the lesions occur in the blood vessels of the limbs, especially the lower limbs. The pathological changes first include thickening of the vascular endothelium, followed by thrombosis, and finally complete blockage of the blood vessels. Usually, the lesions first appear in the distal limb arteries, such as the posterior tibial, anterior tibial, ulnar, radial, arch, palmar arch, toe, and digital arteries. The lesions further develop and involve the femoral artery and brachial artery. The boundary between the diseased segment and the normal part is very clear, and the accompanying veins are often affected at the same time, but the symptoms are generally mild. In the late stage, fibrous tissue proliferates and hardens around the blood vessels.

The main symptoms of thrombotic arteritis are redness, numbness, coldness and pain in the patient's fingers or toes. In the later stages, ulceration and necrosis will occur. In severe cases, it can lead to disability of the hands and feet. This is mainly due to the patient's lack of vital energy, which prevents qi and blood from reaching the blood vessel endings, causing the fingers or toes to lack nutrition and gradually become necrotic. The power of blood circulation depends on the pressure generated by the beating of the heart. In fact, this is not entirely true. When a person's heart dies and suddenly stops beating, the human body still has a certain portal blood pressure. This is the power of the undecayed vital energy.

Diagnostic points; common symptoms are:

1. Pain: This is the most prominent symptom. In mild cases, the pain is alleviated or disappears during rest, but reappears or worsens after walking, forming intermittent claudication. In severe cases, the pain is severe and persistent, forming rest pain, especially at night, often causing the patient to sit with his knees bent and his feet hugged.

2. Coldness and abnormal sensation: The affected limb feels cold and is most sensitive to cold, especially at the toes (fingertips). And there is a tingling, numbness or burning sensation.

3. Changes in skin color: pale or purple-red skin color.

4. Changes due to nutritional deficiency: dry skin, desquamation, cracking, hair loss, deformed toenails and slow growth; reduced calf circumference, loose and atrophied muscles; thinning of toes.

5. Gangrene and ulcers: The tips of the toes (fingers) of the affected limbs turn black, shriveled, and dry gangrene and ulcers form.
