How to treat lumbar spinal stenosis and foot numbness?

In life, lumbar spinal stenosis is a disease of the lumbar spine. There are many reasons for lumbar spinal stenosis. Long-term fatigue or body weight can cause lumbar spinal stenosis. Lumbar spinal stenosis usually causes lower limb pain, numbness, etc. It should be treated in time, and you should also pay attention to get more rest.

Lumbar spinal stenosis can cause leg numbness, but the most typical feature of lumbar spinal stenosis is intermittent claudication. Pain and discomfort will occur if you walk a little distance, and the pain will be relieved by rest.

Clinical manifestations

1. Cervical spinal stenosis

(1) Pain and numbness Cervical spinal stenosis often causes neck pain, which is usually soreness and swelling. Numbness in the limbs, radiating pain in the upper limbs, and may have discharging and burning pain.

(2) Impairments in limb movement and bowel and bladder function: Weakness of the limbs, muscle atrophy, and severe stenosis. Paraplegia, bowel and bladder incontinence, etc. may occur under the influence of slight external force. Numbness in the perineum area and decreased sexual function.

2. Thoracic spinal stenosis

Thoracic spinal stenosis often causes chest and back pain, which is often persistent and difficult to relieve. The trunk below the level of spinal stenosis feels numb and often has a banding sensation. Both lower limbs feel numb and weak. Because the anatomical structure of the thoracic spinal canal is narrower than that of the cervical and lumbar spinal canals, symptoms of numbness and weakness in the lower limbs appear earlier. Gait becomes unsteady and lame.

3. Lumbar spinal stenosis

(1) Pain and muscle weakness Lumbar spinal stenosis is often accompanied by recurrent low back pain, radiating pain in the buttocks and lower limbs, followed by numbness and weakness in the lower limbs and muscle atrophy. The nature of pain varies, and can be soreness, numbness, swelling, discharge-like and burning pain.

(2) Symptoms of cauda equina compression include incomplete urination, inability to control bowel movements, numbness in the perineum, and decreased sexual function.

(3) Intermittent claudication is a characteristic manifestation of spinal stenosis. Intermittent claudication occurs when walking and improves after standing or squatting and resting.
