Colon adenoma, also known as colon cancer, is a relatively serious malignant tumor and is closely related to our daily diet. In recent years, the incidence of colon adenoma has been relatively high and can manifest itself in a variety of symptoms, such as changes in bowel habits, blood in the stool, more frequent bowel movements, alternating diarrhea and constipation, and in severe cases, symptoms of poisoning, abdominal lumps, etc. 1. Changes in bowel habits: In the early stage of right-sided colon cancer, the symptoms are loose stools with pus and blood, and increased frequency of bowel movements. When the tumor continues to grow and affects the passage of stool, alternating diarrhea and constipation may also occur. Left-side colon cancer often presents as difficulty in defecation, which worsens with the progression of the disease. In addition, if the tumor is located lower, difficulty in defecation and a feeling of tenesmus may also occur. 2. Digestive tract symptoms: Symptoms include abdominal distension, discomfort or indigestion. Among them, when it is right-sided colon cancer, the symptoms are mostly abdominal pain or dull pain. It may be intermittent at first and then become continuous, often located in the right lower abdomen, much like an attack of chronic appendicitis. When it comes to left-sided colon cancer, the symptoms often include sudden obstruction, abdominal cramps, accompanied by abdominal distension, hyperperistalsis, constipation and difficulty passing gas, or chronic obstructive symptoms such as abdominal distension, paroxysmal abdominal pain, hyperactive bowel sounds, constipation, blood and mucus in the stool, etc. 3. Symptoms of poisoning: Symptoms of early colon cancer also include anemia, low fever, fatigue, weight loss, edema, etc., especially anemia and weight loss. 4. Abdominal mass: About 50% of patients may find abdominal masses, which are cancerous tumors or tumors that have infiltrated and adhered to the omentum and surrounding tissues. They are hard and irregular in shape. Some masses may have a certain degree of mobility along the intestinal tract, while in advanced colon cancer, the masses may be fixed due to the more infiltration of the tumor. 5. Blood or mucus in stool: In right-sided colon cancer, the amount of bleeding is small and due to the peristalsis of the colon, it is fully mixed with the feces, making it difficult to see with the naked eye, but the occult blood test is often positive. In left-side colon cancer, bleeding and mucus are not mixed with stool, but blood and mucus can be observed in stool of about 1/4 of patients with the naked eye. Colon cancer is a wasting disease, and declining immunity is common in cancer patients. In daily life, patients should pay attention to reasonable nutrition, try to diversify their food, eat more high-protein, low-animal fat, easily digestible foods, and combine coarse and fine grains to ensure nutritional balance. |
