What is Rubella virus IgG positive?

What is Rubella virus IgG positive?

Rubella virus is also a relatively common virus, which mainly causes illness through droplet transmission. Infants and young children are the main group of patients. If infected with this virus in the early stages of pregnancy, it is easy to transmit the virus to the fetus, which is more harmful to the fetus and may even cause fetal malformations, miscarriage, etc. If the rubella virus test is positive, it is necessary to use medication in time.

What does rubella virus IgG positive mean?

1. Rubella virus is an enveloped virus that is directly transmitted through droplets of nasopharyngeal secretions from patients. The virus has a diameter of about 60 to 70 nm and is rough spherical. It consists of a single-stranded RNA genome and a lipid shell, containing an electron-dense core covered by two layers of loose outer coats. The virus can be found in nasopharyngeal secretions 7 days before the rash appears and 7-8 days after the rash subsides. Subclinical patients are also contagious. Humans are the only natural host of rubella virus.

2. Generally, rubella virus is prone to vertical infection. When a pregnant woman is first infected with rubella virus in early pregnancy, the virus can enter the fetus through the placental barrier, often causing miscarriage or stillbirth. It can also cause congenital rubella syndrome in the fetus and cause fetal malformations. Therefore, the positive rubella virus IgG test cannot be ignored.

3. Rubella virus will float in the air along with people's coughs and sneezes. After people with weak immunity inhale the rubella virus, they begin to show symptoms after a latent period of 2 to 3 weeks.

Is rubella virus IgG positive normal?

1. During general prenatal check-ups, a TORCH test is usually performed. It is a general term for pathogens such as Toxoplasma gondii, rubella virus, cytomegalovirus, and herpes simplex virus. T refers to Toxoplasma gondii (TOX), O refers to other viruses (mainly pregnancy complicated with syphilis, etc.), R refers to rubella virus (RV), C refers to cytomegalovirus (CMV), and H refers to herpes simplex virus (HSV). The rubella virus IgG is positive, indicating that the virus is active. If the pregnant mother has been infected recently, the fetus is likely to be infected. After a pregnant mother is infected with the rubella virus (usually through the respiratory tract infection), after an incubation period of 14 to 21 days, she will develop symptoms such as low fever, runny nose, and rash. Of course, some pregnant mothers do not have any clinical manifestations (called latent infection).

2. Whether it is normal to detect that the rubella virus IgG is positive, you need to go to the hospital for further IGM examination, because it is possible that it has been infected before, but there is no major change now; it is also possible that it is currently infected with the virus, so you still need to go to the hospital for an examination to ensure your health. However, it still needs to be taken seriously, because if a pregnant mother is infected with the rubella virus, not only her own health is threatened, but it is also absolutely possible to affect the fetus, which may cause the embryo to stop developing, miscarriage, stillbirth, premature birth, congenital malformations, etc., and even affect the baby's intellectual development after birth, causing lifelong sequelae.
