What are the treatments for prurigo?

Pruritus is a general term for a group of acute or chronic inflammatory skin diseases. A pruritic skin disease that often occurs on the extensor side of the limbs. Skin lesions are mostly isolated prurigo papules or nodules, which leave pigmentation after healing and cause severe itching at the local lesions. The course of the disease is chronic, sometimes lasting months or even years. Prurigo has different names and no consistent classification system. Due to different clinical manifestations, this book divides prurigo into various types, including infantile prurigo, common prurigo, nodular prurigo, prurigo of pregnancy and summer prurigo. Common treatments for this disease include:

Common prurigo and summer prurigo can be treated with Chinese medicine that clears heat and removes wind, such as Jingfang Qingre Decoction and Liangxue Qingfeng Decoction. It should be noted that the selection and use of Chinese medicine must be carried out under the guidance of a doctor and must not be used recklessly.

(2) Hormone therapy. Hormone therapy is also one of the treatments for prurigo. For patients with severe prurigo symptoms, small doses of corticosteroids can be given to temporarily relieve symptoms, but the condition is prone to relapse when the medication is stopped.

( 3) Antihistamine drug treatment. Treatments for prurigo also include antihistamines, such as chlorpheniramine, cypermethrin, vitamin C, etc., which have a certain effect on relieving itching.
