What to do if blood is restored by infusion

Mothers need to pay special attention when receiving an infusion. First of all, they need to check the infusion tube regularly to prevent air from entering or blood backflow. If the blood reflux keeps rising, it is very dangerous and may cause many unnecessary troubles and complications. Therefore, during the infusion, if bubbles are found, the bubbles must be popped out. If blood backflow is found, the doctor should be notified in time to take necessary measures.

Air embolism can indeed cause death in severe cases. This raises a question: how much air is needed to form a fatal air embolism?

No one has ever conducted experiments on human bodies. The little white rabbits used in the experiment will only react when there is more than 10ml of air. As for humans, there have been cases of suicide by injecting air in China. 400 ml of air was injected into the thigh blood vessel in one breath, and the suicide was eventually successful. A bottle of mineral water is 500 ml... It is not easy to inject so much air during an infusion.

There are documented records and studies showing that about 2ml/kg of air entering the body may be life-threatening. According to this standard, a 50kg woman would need to be injected with 100ml of air, and the injection must be completed within 1 minute before she would die. This situation is unlikely to occur during an infusion.

In addition, in the late 1980s, when qigong was popular, there was a kind of air therapy that involved injecting air into the blood vessels. It was said to cure all diseases and it could be injected wherever there was discomfort. The injection volume was 10 to 15 ml. I don't know how effective it was, but I haven't heard of anyone dying suddenly after the injection.

Finally, a friendly reminder, the above content refers to healthy adults. If there is a problem with the heart itself, it is a different matter. For ordinary people, the "blood return" during infusion or the "air" in the tube will not really kill you.
