What are the treatments for knee effusion

People's normal joints will have a small amount of joint effusion. These joint fluids mainly play a lubricating role like butter, which can prevent tissue damage and joint stiffness. However, many people will develop arthritis and effusion due to trauma or knee inflammation, which will cause local congestion for a long time and exude more fluid. This will lead to difficulty squatting, and even problems when walking and bending the joints. Knee effusion is an abnormal phenomenon, which is mostly caused by local strain. Usually, you should know that treatment can be achieved through massage, puncture therapy, local medication, hot compress and fumigation.

1. Diagnosis:

1. Synovitis is a common clinical disease, and the main symptom is knee joint effusion. The synovium of the knee joint is the largest and most complex of all joints in the human body. It also forms the largest synovial cavity and is wrinkled to accommodate various movements of the knee joint. Because the knee joint bears heavy loads and exercises a lot, it is most susceptible to injuries, so knee synovitis is the most common in clinical practice. The synovium is mainly distributed around the joints. It communicates with the joint cavity and secretes lubricating fluid to lubricate the joints. The main symptoms are joint congestion and swelling, pain, increased exudation, joint effusion, difficulty in squatting and limited function.

2. Ankle and knee joint synovitis is the main cause of ankle and knee joint effusion. Ankle and knee joint effusion is a form of immune regulation and is a protective fluid secreted by the body.

3. Swelling and blood accumulation in the knee joint is one of the key points in diagnosing meniscus injury of the knee. Meniscus injury of the knee is a common disease of the knee joint. The meniscus is located on the articular surface of the tibia and consists of medial and lateral crescent-shaped bones.

2. Treatment measures:

1. Massage therapy

Pushing and kneading acupressure method: The patient lies on his back, and knead the knees from top to bottom along the tendons repeatedly for 1 to 2 minutes. (2) Extension and flexion of the knee: The patient's position is the same as above, with muscles relaxed. The doctor first gently flexes and extends the knee joint back and forth in a small range, and finally tries to fully flex the knee joint, and then straightens the affected limb. (3) Scraping and dividing tendons: The patient lies on his back and uses the flexed knuckle of one thumb to place it on the inside of the painful point above and below the patella. The other palm is placed on the flexed thumb and the arm strength is used to push the thumb outward and scrape it several times. (4) When there is joint effusion, you can use hammering, pounding, and patting methods alternately. The punch is a solid fist, and the strike is an empty fist. Hit the soft tissue around the patella and the extensor side of the thigh. Flex and extend the calf 20 to 30 times each. The strike is a solid fist, and use the arm strength of both fists to press down on the same part as above, and repeat 1 to 2 times. Instead of using your fist to pat the popliteal fossa, use your palm to pat and use the strength of your wrist to bounce the ball.

2. Piercing therapy

When there is a lot of joint effusion and tension is high, joint puncture can be performed to completely drain the effusion and blood, and sodium hyaluronate, which is the main component of synovial fluid, can be injected into the joint cavity. Studies have shown that various pathological changes in arthritis are closely related to its reduction and changes in physical and chemical properties. The injection of sodium hyaluronate has the following effects: covering the surface of articular cartilage, which can protect the articular cartilage and prevent or delay further degeneration; protecting the synovial membrane of the joint, removing pain-causing substances, and significantly reducing pain; improving the contracture state of the joint and increasing the mobility of the joint; and improving the synovial fluid of the degenerative joint.

3. Medication

In the acute stage of synovial injury and blood stasis, the treatment is mainly to disperse blood stasis, promote new blood circulation and reduce swelling. Panax notoginseng powder can be taken orally. Chronic retention of water and dampness, and weakened muscles and tendons can be treated by dispelling wind and dampness, and strengthening muscles and tendons. Take Qianghuo Shengshi Decoction with modifications internally, and apply Gou Pi Gao externally. If the cold evil is more severe, you can also dispel the cold, wind and dampness, and use Wutou Decoction.

4. Immobilization and exercise therapy

In the early stage, you should rest in bed, elevate the affected limb, apply pressure with an elastic bandage, and prohibit weight bearing. During the treatment, quadriceps contraction and relaxation exercises can be performed, and in the later stage, knee flexion and extension exercises should be strengthened. This has a positive effect on eliminating joint effusion, preventing quadriceps atrophy, preventing recurrent synovitis, and restoring knee flexion and extension function.

5. Chinese medicine plaster therapy

The synovium is mainly distributed around the joints. It communicates with the joint cavity and secretes lubricating fluid to lubricate the joints. When the synovium is stimulated or directly stimulated by various causes (such as bone hyperplasia, arthritis, joint tuberculosis, rheumatism, traumatic injury, bone injury, intra-articular injury, surrounding soft tissue injury, surgery, etc.), an inflammatory response is produced, and the synovium responds to the inflammatory stimulus by secreting exudate. Strictly speaking, pain occurs as long as there is exudation and effusion in the joints, it proves the presence of synovitis, which is mainly manifested by joint congestion and swelling, pain, increased exudation, joint effusion, difficulty in squatting and limited function.
