Does purpura itch? Symptoms of purpura

Purpura is not unfamiliar to many people. It is a common clinical disease. There are many types of purpura, and the most common one is allergic purpura. Generally speaking, the symptoms of purpura are relatively obvious. In addition to external skin manifestations, there may be other obvious symptoms. Purpura has a great impact on the patient's life and body. It may also cause many complications and even seriously affect the appearance. In addition to allergic purpura, another very troublesome condition is itch-type purpura. As the name suggests, this type of purpura is well-known for its itchy symptoms. Therefore, purpura must be treated and controlled in a timely manner.

1. Itching symptoms

Allergic purpura will cause skin itching. Once the itching starts, you should go to the hospital for a check-up in time instead of blindly suspecting and doubting. The most important symptom of allergic purpura is the purple appearance of the skin. When allergic purpura attacks, there will be many changes in your body. Many patients will have symptoms such as thrombocytopenia, livedo reticularis and gangrene, while some patients will have hematuria.

2. Itchy purpura

It is more common in adult males, and is more common in spring and summer. The skin lesions begin around the ankles, with the appearance of punctate erythema and purpuric macules, which are orange-yellow in color with clear borders, and then spread upward. After a few weeks, it can affect the calves and the whole body, causing pruritus. The lesions are most severe at the places where clothes rub, but the palms and face are generally not involved. Due to severe itching, the skin often undergoes lichenification. The course of the disease is 3 to 6 months and may relapse.

3. Others

Itchy purpura is obviously pruritus, and patients often have a history of scratching. Since scratching destroys the integrity of the skin, it may induce bacterial or fungal skin infection. It is usually secondary to patients with poor physical condition, long-term use of immunosuppressants, and fungal infections such as onychomycosis. If complicated by bacterial infection, there may be symptoms such as fever, skin swelling, ulceration, and purulent secretions. Severe cases can lead to sepsis and should attract the attention of clinicians.
