How to deal with a dog's skin being torn through clothes

More and more people like to keep dogs and feed them as pets. In the normal feeding process, it is inevitable that they will be scratched or bitten. Many people ignore the fact that their skin is broken by dogs through their clothes, thinking that there will be no serious consequences with the blocking of clothes. In fact, no matter how the skin is broken, you need to go to the hospital as soon as possible to get a rabies vaccine. This is very critical. Although the patient will not feel any symptoms at the beginning, if the rabies vaccine is not given, it will be too late when the symptoms occur. It is very likely to endanger the patient's life, and in severe cases it may even lead to death.

Take the following emergency measures immediately :

1. Wound treatment: Immediately rinse all wounds or itchy areas thoroughly with 20% soapy water or 0.1% chlorhexidine, rinse repeatedly for at least 30 minutes, and then apply 70% alcohol or 2% iodine.

2. Vaccination: Go to the county health and epidemic prevention station or local health center in time to receive the human rabies vaccine.

If a person is scratched or bitten by a dog, regardless of whether there is bleeding or not, as long as the skin or mucous membranes are damaged, they should be given a human rabies vaccine. If you are exposed more than 48 hours after being bitten, double the initial dose. You cannot tell with the naked eye whether a puppy has rabies. Rabies is an acute infectious disease caused by the rabies virus. It is preventable but not curable and is a zoonosis. It is mainly transmitted by bites or scratches from infected dogs, cats and wild animals. Once the disease occurs, the mortality rate is almost 100%. The rabies virus mainly invades the human body through bites on broken skin. Clinically, the first symptoms are fever, swelling, itching, numbness and pain around the wound, followed by fear of water, light, wind, sound, excitement, and madness, eventually leading to paralysis and life-threatening.

Anyone who is seriously bitten, such as three or more bites on the head, face, neck, hands or multiple parts of the body, should be injected with rabies serum and human rabies purified vaccine at the same time on the same day. Wounds caused by animal bites should not be bandaged or sutured. The incubation period of rabies can be as short as a few days or as long as several years or even decades, and is generally 1-3 months. Anyone bitten or scratched by a rabid dog or other animal must be vaccinated against rabies.
