Teeth are very important to us. Only when the teeth are healthy can the body be healthy. And we must not have toothache, which is really unbearable. The root of the tooth refers to the base of our teeth, which is usually buried in the gums. We cannot see it with the naked eye. As we grow older, our teeth will have some problems. When there are problems with our teeth, we must treat them in time. If our tooth roots become inflamed, the gums will become swollen, red, itchy and very painful. Now let’s talk about the symptoms of tooth root inflammation. Let’s take a look! Symptom 1: Gum color: Normal gums are pink, but in cases of gingivitis, the free gums and gingival papillae turn deep red or dark red. This is due to congestion and proliferation of blood vessels in the gingival connective tissue. Symptom 2: Gum appearance: When suffering from gingivitis, due to tissue edema, the gingival margin becomes thicker and no longer close to the tooth surface, and the gingival papilla becomes rounded, blunt and enlarged. When the attached gingiva is edematous, the stippling may also disappear, and the surface becomes smooth and shiny. Texture: When suffering from gingivitis, the gums may become soft, fragile and lack elasticity due to connective tissue edema and collagen destruction. Symptom 3: Gingival sulcus depth: When the periodontal tissue is healthy, the depth of the gingival sulcus generally does not exceed 2 mm. When the gums are inflamed, swollen or hyperplastic, the gingival sulcus may deepen to more than 2 mm, forming a pseudo periodontal pocket. Symptom 4: Bleeding on probing: Healthy gums do not bleed when brushing or probing the gingival sulcus. People with gingivitis bleed when lightly touched and also bleed when probing. Bleeding after probing is an important objective indicator for diagnosing whether the gums are inflamed. Symptom 5: Increased gingival sulcus fluid: When the gums are inflamed, the exudation of gingival crevicular fluid increases, and the number of white blood cells in it also increases significantly. Some patients may also have gingival crevicular pus. Therefore, measuring the amount of gingival crevicular fluid can be used as an indicator to judge the degree of inflammation. Symptom 6. Subjective symptoms: In chronic gingivitis, patients often experience bleeding when brushing their teeth or biting hard objects, or there are blood stains on the bitten food. This is the main reason for seeking medical treatment. However, chronic gingivitis generally does not have spontaneous bleeding, which can be distinguished from gingival bleeding caused by blood diseases and other diseases. Some patients occasionally experience local itching, swelling and other discomforts in the gums, as well as bad breath. |
