What are the uses of dilute sulfuric acid and sodium chloride?

Chemical substances are essential basic raw materials in modern life. Most chemical substances can be used to produce a variety of things, providing a large amount of material support for people's lives. For example, dilute sulfuric acid and sodium chloride are two commonly used industrial raw materials that can be used in many industries to produce a wide range of products. Let’s take a look at the uses of dilute sulfur and sodium chloride.

Dilute sulfuric acid:

Dilute sulfuric acid refers to an aqueous solution of sulfuric acid with a solute mass fraction of less than or equal to 70%. Since the sulfuric acid molecules in dilute sulfuric acid have been completely ionized, dilute sulfuric acid does not have the special chemical properties of concentrated sulfuric acid, such as strong oxidizing property, water absorption, and dehydration (commonly known as carbonization, i.e. strong corrosiveness).

Sodium Chloride:

Sodium chloride, colorless cubic crystals or fine crystalline powder, salty taste. It has a white crystalline appearance and its main source is seawater, and it is the main component of table salt. It is easily soluble in water and glycerin, slightly soluble in ethanol (alcohol) and liquid ammonia; insoluble in concentrated hydrochloric acid. Impure sodium chloride is deliquescent in air.

use:

1. Food industry

It is used for salting in the food industry and fishery industry, and can also be used as a raw material for seasonings and refined table salt.

Adding salt when cooking dishes can remove some of the peculiar smell of the ingredients and increase the flavor. This is the flavor-enhancing effect of salt. “Bland tasteless, salty tasteless” means that the amount of salt should be appropriate to play its unique function.

2. Medical

Sodium chloride is very important for life on Earth. Most biological tissues contain a variety of salts. The sodium ion concentration in the blood is directly related to the regulation of safe levels of body fluids. The conduction of nerve impulses resulting from signal transduction is also regulated by sodium ions.

Water containing 0.9% sodium chloride is called normal saline because it has the same osmotic pressure as blood plasma. Normal saline is the main fluid substitute and is widely used to treat and prevent dehydration. It is also used for intravenous therapy and prevention of hemovolemic shock.

Sodium chloride is indispensable to humans. The total amount of sodium ions contained in an adult's body is about 60g, of which 80% is present in the extracellular fluid, that is, in the plasma and intercellular fluid. Chloride ions are also mainly present in the extracellular fluid. The main physiological functions of sodium ions and chloride ions are:

(1) Maintaining the osmotic pressure of the extracellular fluid;

(2) Participate in the regulation of acid-base balance in the body;

(3) Chloride ions are involved in the production of gastric acid in the body. In addition, sodium chloride also plays a role in maintaining the normal excitability of nerves and muscles.

3. Agriculture

Its aqueous solution can be used for seed selection. Prepare NaCl solution according to species needs. Its density is greater than that of water. When seeds are put into NaCl solution, those that float are not full, while those that sink are full.
