What are the symptoms of heart damage

Now our living standards are gradually improving, but the number of patients suffering from heart damage is increasing, which has a lot to do with some daily living habits. In daily life, you should pay attention to eating light and easily digestible food, eating some fresh fruits and vegetables, avoiding eating particularly irritating food, and never overeating. When the heart is damaged, obvious symptoms will appear.

1.—Shortness of breath when lying down,

The patient develops shortness of breath after lying flat for a few minutes. The shortness of breath is slightly relieved after sitting up. At this time, it should be considered that the patient may have heart failure. This is because the return volume to the heart increases when lying flat, which leads to increased airway resistance. If the patient experiences shortness of breath, he should go to the cardiology department in time to rule out the possibility of pulmonary disease.

2. The chest feels heavy as if a huge stone is falling on it.

This is what we usually call "chest tightness". If emotional factors and changes in the function of other organs such as the respiratory system are excluded, it should be considered that the patient may have myocardial ischemia. If the chest tightness persists for several minutes and cannot be relieved, or even severe chest pain occurs, it is very likely that angina pectoris or even acute myocardial infarction (abbreviated as "MI") has occurred. You should call 120 as soon as possible and rush to the nearest hospital. Under certain conditions, you can first take nitroglycerin or quick-acting heart-saving pills on your own.

3. Clothes and shoes suddenly become tight,

Clothes and shoes become tighter. Many people may think that they have gained weight. But for people with heart disease, it may indicate impaired heart function. This is because cardiac output (the total volume ejected by the ventricles per minute) decreases, renal flow decreases, and the amount of water discharged from the body decreases. This can lead to lower limb edema and increased body weight (especially if it increases by more than 2 kg within 3 days). You need to seek medical attention immediately.

4. Loss of appetite

In addition to loss of appetite, patients with impaired heart function may also experience abdominal distension, nausea and vomiting, constipation, abdominal pain and other symptoms, which are mostly caused by right heart failure and gastrointestinal congestion.

5. Dizziness,

Dizziness and lightheadedness are common in daily life. Poor sleep, cervical spondylosis, high blood pressure, etc. are common causes. However, dizziness and lightheadedness accompanied by significantly low blood pressure may be caused by damaged heart function. In severe cases, syncope, cardiogenic shock and other life-threatening conditions may occur. At this time, you should seek medical attention immediately.

6. Anxiety,

Normal people's anxiety is mostly related to emotions. However, some people still feel palpitations, panic, and restlessness when their emotions are not disturbed. This may indicate the presence of heart disease. Increased heart rate and irregular heartbeat are common causes of anxiety and panic. They are mostly caused by functional or organic changes in the heart. Early intervention is needed to prevent the symptoms from getting worse.

7. Coughing

Most people will have symptoms such as cough and fever when they have influenza. The cough will not be very severe during the day or night, but some people do not have fever or other influenza-like symptoms. The only thing they have is a persistent cough, which is more common at night than in the evening. It is more obvious when lying down than when sitting up. At this time, you should be alert to whether your heart function is damaged. This may be due to lung congestion that irritates the airway. You may cough up white foamy sputum with blood in it. In acute outbreaks, pink foamy sputum may even appear.

8. Easy to get tired or feel weak all day long,

Many heart disease patients begin to suffer from weakness or easy fatigue. This is mostly due to impaired left ventricular function, reduced cardiac output, and inability to meet peripheral tissue perfusion.
