Perennial herb. The rhizome is aromatic, 2-5 mm thick, light brown on the outside, with internodes 3-5 mm long, fleshy roots, with many fibrous roots, and the upper part of the rhizome is densely branched, so the plant grows in a clumped state, and the branches are often covered with fibrous persistent leaf bases. The leaves are sessile, thin, with membranous sheaths on both sides of the base up to 5 mm wide, extending almost to the middle of the leaf blade, gradually narrowing and falling off; the leaves are dark green, linear, 20-30 (50) cm long, folded in half at the base, flat above the middle, 7-13 mm wide, gradually narrowed at the apex, without midrib, with many parallel veins, slightly raised. Inflorescence stalk is axillary, 4-15 cm long, triangular. The leafy spathe is 13-25 cm long, 2-5 times or longer than the spadix, rarely nearly as long; the spadix is ​​terete, (2.5) 4-6.5 (8.5) cm long, 4-7 mm thick, gradually pointed at the top, erect or slightly curved. The flowers are white. The mature infructescence is 7-8 cm long and up to 1 cm in diameter. Young fruits are green, turning yellow-green or yellow-white when ripe. Flowering and fruiting period is from February to June.
