There are blebs in the eyes, it is important to understand these

Eyes, as windows to the soul, play a very important role in everyone's daily life. So when follicles grow in the eyes, people will worry about whether it will affect eye health. In fact, the follicles in the eyes are caused by lymphocyte reactions, which are mainly caused by bacterial infection and inflammation. People can choose the appropriate treatment method according to their own situation. If the situation is serious, they need to seek medical treatment in time.

1. Formation of follicles

Caused by lymphocytic reaction, it presents as smooth, translucent, and air-permeable conjunctival changes. The follicles are scattered and often occur in the superior palpebral conjunctiva and inferior fornix conjunctiva, and can also be seen in the limbal conjunctiva. The diameter of the follicle is generally 0.5~2.0mm, and some are larger than 2.0mm. Unlike the nipple, there is no blood vessel in the center of the follicle, and the blood vessels gradually disappear from the peripheral base to the top. Identification of follicles is very important and is a relatively specific sign of inflammatory response in some conjunctivitis. Most viral conjunctivitis, chlamydial conjunctivitis (except neonatal inclusion conjunctivitis), conjunctivitis caused by some parasites, and conjunctivitis caused by drugs (glycosides, dipivefrin, miotics) all cause follicle formation. It has also been reported in Moraxella and meningococcal conjunctivitis.

The follicles are located at the edge of the lower fornix tarsal plate and have little diagnostic value. If they are located on the upper tarsal plate, the possibility of chlamydial, viral or drug-induced conjunctivitis should be considered. Follicular proliferation in children and adolescents does not always mean pathological changes. Small follicles can sometimes be seen in the temporal conjunctiva of normal young people. They are often obvious in the dome and disappear near the eyelid margin. This is a physiological change called benign lymphoid follicular proliferation.

2. Treatment recommendations

There are many types of follicles, such as those caused by inflammation, allergic reactions, and hypersensitivity reactions. It is mainly caused by bacterial infection and inflammation.

If it is caused by inflammation, the main thing is to actively control the occurrence and development of inflammation. Maintain eye hygiene and apply anti-inflammatory eye drops regularly. This is usually done four times a day for a week. Don’t eat foods that are too irritating. If you don't feel any discomfort, then you don't have to worry about it.
